It's always been that way and it always will be.

If Lamont Peterson was good enough to unify SLW he wouldn't be Lamont Peterson, so that's a silly question really.

GGG would not become a star just beating Andre Ward. Outside of hardcore boxing fans, nobody even knows who Ward is.
That is the most ridiculous excuse ever.

Two weeks ago, when Able Sanchez stated that Golovkin would KO Ward easily, and that they were not interested in knocking out Ward easily, because that would make it too difficult to get good opponents in the future..... Golovkin fans should have ridiculed him.

    The most ridiculous excuse ever.

    Have you no shame ?

Which is why the 164 catchweight demand for Ward is an obvious duck.

There was much more money on the table for a Froch fight..... so if Golovkin was ever going to demand a catchweight in order to negotiate a bigger piece of the pie, he would have done so for Froch and Chavez.

Also, both of those guys are bigger than Ward

      Come on man !
What? That doesn't make sense, Froch/Chavez brought more money to the table making it worth the risk - no leverage for Golovkin to request a cw. And yes they were easier fights than Ward would be, making that risk/reward ratio an even bigger hurdle for the Ward fight.

As for Bute, hind sight does not apply. Bute looked like a killer prior to Froch, even Stephen Edwards said Bute would give Ward a hell of a fight prior. Ward ducked it. Meantime he had Kessler served to him on silver platter without earning it.

        Stoppit willya

FACT: there was more money on the table for Froch/Chavez, than for Ward

If Golovkin was ever going to use a catchweight demand to gain more leverage financially, then he would have done so for Froch/Chavez..... because it would have been much more lucrative to do so.

That is obvious, and it makes perfect sense.

        Come on man

Also, Froch and Chavez are BOTH bigger than Ward, but Golovkin had no problem fighting them at 168.

You don't understand how leverage works. Golovkin had no leverage in making demands with Chavez/Froch. Those guys made big money without Golovkin and didn't need to fight him, therefore Golovkin would've been lucky to just take whatever there offers were. Now apply that same scenario in reverse with Ward/Golovkin and maybe you can finally understand how this works.

I wouldn't say Froch/Chavez are bigger than Ward, I'd argue the opposite. Eitherway, Chavez/Froch styles aren't to use their size advantage to clinch constantly. They actually fight.

Roc are talking to Duva about making that fight. They are desparate for Ward to do something to justify all the $ they've blown on him.

But Andre himself isn't talking about it. Did you hear his answer when asked about Kovalev in his interview after Floyd/Berto?

"Critics want me to move up. They seem to be trying to push for that. But I'm going to get together with my team, hit my knees and pray, and make the right decision for me and my family"

He wouldn't even speak Kovalev's name on camera.

Trust me, Roc and Duva can talk till doomsday, but Ward will not fight Kovalev.

            • What happened to bigjames? I asked him to put his points where his mouth is and suddenly he went radio silent. Vanished. Not even an un-witty reply.

The fights already sold 20,000 tickets over a month away. Even Flo mo's know it's doing over 10x that in ppv buys.

Froch walks around just a couple of pounds over 168 and is clearly smaller than Ward.

Chavez was fighting at 160 just 3 years ago and I would say he is probably a naturally smaller man than Ward. But obviously, bloated and overweight for a top class boxer nowadays.

                      We will agree to disagree.

The 164 demand for Ward was a blatant obvious duck.
