The WBC has to maintain credibility. The only reason they are fighting for the belt is because GGG AGREED to step aside with the agreement Gennady gets the winner or the belt. This could be easily upheld in court.

I don't even think he will have to fight for the belt if vacated. I'm pretty sure he is elevated from interim to lineal champ.

But the same goes for Cotto and Canelo. Without GGG there is no one around their weight that people would want to pay money to see.

The fact still remains that fighting GGG next is the most lucrative fight for both. If they want to duck and take less money and face all the questions, well then that's on them. Personally I'm a Canelo fan because he does take challenges head on. I think he takes the fight regardless of what Oscar says just like he did with Lara.
