The reuputation of Andre Ward? He's barley fought in close to 3 years and his opposition has been absolutely horrible. His reputation has dwindled along with whatever short list of fans he has left. I'm hearing the guy couldn't even get 100+ to a free autograph signing in his hometown, it's that bad.

He doesn't have a fan friendly style, I think we can agree on that. If any casual fans were to buy the fight, it would be soley for Golovkin, not Ward, whereas I'm 100% sure there are a fair amount of fans that see Lemiuex as an exciting opponent that will give them their moneys worth, which can't be said about Ward.

My point still stands, in what realm of reality is Ward in when he believes that he deserves a 50-50 split with zero concessions when he is the B-side in this imaginary PPV?

Andre Ward is one of the best fighters in the world and is clearly the biggest threat to Golovkin otherwise they wouldn't be so hesitant to get in the ring with him.

There really was no A-side and B-side when the offer was made. We'll see how Golovkin does on PPV because like I said, it's a complete gamble from HBO.

If Golovkin-Lemiuex flops then Ward will surely point that out. To be honest, there'll almost certainly be more eyes on his next fight considering it's set to be on the Canelo-Cotto card.

I have no idea what the split would be. I know Ward makes more than Golovkin, so I doubt he takes much less than 50-50. And it should be at 168 because Golovkin was willing to move up to 168 for everyone else. It's only right he do so for the best fighter in the division. Weight is only an issue because Team Golovkin threw up a road block.

Golovkin-Ward would be on PPV because of the fight. It's a far bigger fight than Golovkin-Lemiuex. And that's because of the reputation of Andre Ward and the threat he poses to Golovkin.

HBO have taken a complete stab in the dark on this Golovkin-Lemiuex PPV to gauge Golovkin's popularity. Nobody knows who Lemiuex is outside of Canada.

I don't even think they're taking a stab in the dark. The fight really doesn't even make sense for Oscar. I'm sure he viewed Lemieux as his ace in the hole keeping a belt warm for Canelo, win or lose against Cotto. So I'm pretty sure he was asking for a dollar ammount HBO didn't wanna outright put up. And even a disappointing PPV buyrate likely sweetened the pot enough to make it worth the cash out.

And you are right that Ward GGG would be PPV. And for the same reason. Because Ward will want a lot of money to fight GGG. It's not because he is a big name. No casual fans know who Andre Ward is. Casual fans are people who watch PPV with friends and the ocassional HBO fight, and Ward has been on premium cable once in 3 years..

Ward's last two fights on HBO have done 1.2million and 1.3million viewers.

I didn't say anything about Ward not conceding anything. It's like you don't read and are so desperate not to see Ward/Golovkin that you're seeing things I'm not saying.

What would make Ward/Golovkin PPV is that both fighters command purses too large to put on normal television. This was true a year ago, when no one was talking about Golovkin on PPV yet. You know why? Because Ward makes good money. He makes more per fight than Golovkin has.
