From Gatti to now it's become a joke. And a dangerous joke at that.
How about this? A fighter is not permitted to rehydrate above the next division limit. So a MW must remain under 168. A SMW must remain under 175. A JrMW must remain under 160. Bust the limit and get hit with 50% fine. Twice in a row and you must move up to the next division or your future fights will not be sanctioned.

Of course for this to work, catchweights also must be completely prohibited.

I disagree. If same day weigh ins were done for this fight Quillin more than likely just comes in at limit after a crazy weight cut & puts the health risks on himself by not being able to hydrate back up.

That's actually a good idea, unfortunately catchweights will always remain especially when they throw insane amounts of money at opponents to fight above weight class

Or how about this... fighters must rehydrate under supervision before weigh-ins...

Then no more cutting weight for weighins, instead, you get fighters who are going into the ring at the weight that they weighed in at.

Power is nothing when you have nothing to compliment it. Where was Quillin's power against Lee, who was KO'ed by Chavez Jr and Vera already? Where did his power go against Konecny, Rosado(cuts stoppage doesn't mean power)?

Where was Lem's power vs Rubio and Alcine?

Too bad. That is the choice he has made for himself. A fighter has the right to stretch the rules and put himself at risk as much as he chooses, he does not have the right to put his opponent at risk. The same argument applies for PED use. If the only risk was to the fighter taking the drugs, I would not really care. But using PEDs puts the life of the opponent at risk and that is not acceptable. Use PEDs or whatever you want in sports such as track and field where there is no contact between participants. But when your actions affect the health of others, this is where the line must be set and never broken.

All that need be done is the sanctioning bodies taking a stand and stating that no catchweight title fights will be sanctioned. End of story.

Yea that'll happen. Alphabet groups will sanction title fights with fighters who command big money at any weight those fighters wanna fight at. Its in their best interest to bow down to the guys who bring big money cuz the alphabet groups get 3% of the purses to sanction those fights.
