How about day before weigh in and fight time weigh in as you step into the ring. You bust the contracted limit and you are fined 50% of your purse. That goes up by 20% for a second infraction to the point where a third infraction is a total forfeit and a forcible move to the higher weight class for any following fights. If any fight is for a title, missing the limit results in forfeiture of the title.I was a D+ science student so I won't even attempt to break down the science of it, but I believe that those brighter science mfers could explain much better than I that the same day weigh in was a more dangerous situation for the fighter draining down for the same day weigh in & not being able to hydrate up as much. The day before weigh in just allows for a hydration period that switches up the risk to the other guy when abused.
I think there is a healthier medium & to me that would be the day before weigh in + a fight day hydrated weight limit which lets guys make these crazy cuts they are gonna do anyway with a hydration period that isn't 100% wild wild west like it is now.
Penalties have to be stiff enough that they will not be ignored.Comment

Thats what I said. Guys are gonna have crazy weights cuts either way. The main problem right now is guys who are gaining a lot after the weigh in & making for a riskier situation for the opponent instead of their self.
Again I think two ways to go about it. Either you get a acceptable weight limit range you can fight at when you are given a boxing license that is determined in a more healthy way then just how much weight you can lose or their needs to be a day before weight limit & a day of the fight hydrated weigh limit.
I don't think going back to same day limits does anything except put the risk back on the guy making the crazy weight cuts.Comment

Man, boxing just needs a straight up re-hydration clause. No fighter is allowed to weigh more than 5lb over the division/set weight limit, if that happens ****, he gets fined 50% of his fight fee. If it happens multiple times, full fight fee forfeiture and furthermore, a ban.How about day before weigh in and fight time weigh in as you step into the ring. From Gatti to now it's become a joke. And a dangerous joke at that.Comment

same day forces guys to fight in actually class they suppose to quillin coming in at 182 after weigh in he should be at lhw where killing himself to cut weight wouldn't be an issue for that division, smw he might can get away with but lhw would be his natural weight classThats what I said. I don't think purse penalties are bad with this sorta thing I mainly just feel like this whole weight limit stuff needs to be more intelligence driven & steered towards less risky outcomes for the fighters. How about day before weigh in and fight time weigh in as you step into the ring. Personally I feel like the best thing would be having some way of determining a healthy fighting weight range upon being given a license & we can quit having this whole sport within a sport of who can lose the most weight & gain it back within 24hrs thing we got going on right now.Comment
