Comments Thread For: HBO Sports Exec on The Rise of Gennady Golovkin

New York - HBO Sports Executive Peter Nelson remembered the day when the Managing Director of K2 Promotions, Tom Loeffler, walked into his office with Kazakh middleweight Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (33-0,31 KO's).

Loeffler told Nelson that Golovkin would be the next pay-per-view star - and now three years have passed since his crushing debut on HBO, and Golovkin enters the pay-per-view waters for the first time.

they are not excited just yet..so far he's a hardcores delight..but i can see it building..but they have to keep him out the ring with guys at 168 in order for that to blossom and i think they will do just that

i understand u saying that...but i also understand that the cans he crushed never were crush that way before..but imo that says just a bit more about the division being weak/mediocre than it does about him being great..i cant give him great until he's dominant at 168..not saying dominate 1 division cant make u great...but when i look through that division there is not another HOF unless he's fighting at 155...

oan i do think that if wilder was GGG's color he'd be on the P4P list the exact way...

Golovkin has fought more top 10 opponents in one year than Wilder has fought in his whole career.
