This fight would have been better a couple years ago. I want to see Khan fight Thurman, Porter, Bradley, Garcia, Brook, Pacquiao. All these "top WW's" and they don't even fight each other.
Fight Being Talked About For Showtime 4th Quarter: Amir Khan vs Ruslan Provodnikov

Why are you guys thirsty to give credit to Khan for taking this fight? Khan has a better 147 resume and his resume there isn't even THAT good. Ruslan's best ****ing win at 147 is the rotting carcass of Jose Luis Castillo nearly a year ago. Wake the **** up people.
Are you kidding me? Just because Ruslan has power which he hasn't even proven to carry up to 147 except against Bradley who is really a 140 pounder. There's a whole lot more to this shyt than base physical attributes.Comment

Spot on......Dangerous fight. Not sure I see Khan taking it but props if he does.
Ruslan will put hands on him. He has put hands on every fighter he has ever fought Matthysse, Bradley, Herrera, Algieri.
Khan will hold his feet for too long and get hit with something big and it will be downhill from there.
All of those have better chins than Khan and recovery a hell of a lot faster, plus they don't fight ****** when they are hurt.
Of course Khan will be ahead, he'll be effortlessly outboxing Ruslan until he makes that one mistake of holding his feet for that split second too long and he'll get clattered.
Seen a few threads grumbling about Khan potentially taking this fight. I have nothing but credit for Khan taking it, that is a tough fight and he will get hit and hurt at some point. I think its winnable if he can weather the Ruslan onslaught though I am not so sure he can, I don't think he recovers well at all when hurt.
Nobody should be on Khans case if he takes this fight as seen against Maidana, Diaz, Peterson & Algieri he looks very vulnerable under pressure.
I don't think Ruslan is quite as limited as others do, you do have to watch out for counters.Comment

He also damn near turned out Matthysse's lights in the 11th and did his share of damage despite taking that beating. Whatever his limitations, Provodnikov gets to everyone he fights at some point. Khan isn't a great boxer capable of going 12 without Ruslan getting to him. At some point he will and it would prove something if Khan takes those punches or survives them once hurt.except he throws punches from outer/middle range, has significantly shorter arms than khan, doesn't counter-punch, and doesn't cut off the ring well. don't get me wrong, i love the siberian rocky, but he just got bashed up badly one full division below the one khan will fight him at. when will khan face a real welterweight on good form? brook and thurman are dying to fight him
Khan can prove something by beating Provodnikov, something he needs to prove considering his opposition since Garcia stopped him. This is a good fight.Comment

It's an incredibly entertaining fight that the fans and the networks will love to have. The whole world would pay and watch a Khan vs Provodnikov fight. However as a Khan fan, i feel he should be fighting top 5 elite Welterweights at this stage of his career. Khan should fight Manny Pac, Thurman or Garcia. I know Angel Garcia has said he will never take the Khan rematch and manny is with Arum but why can't the Thurman fight be made?Comment

we don't even know if provo is still the same fighter after the last fight. if he had gotten a good win at 147 lbs and then khan signed to fight him, i would have zero complaints. but as it stands, if khan is to be regarded as a top welter, then he needs to beat someone who is (a) a real 147 lber and (b) not coming directly off of a bad loss. to me this fight is just another time-buying tactic from khan, albeit not without risk (because he knows he would be crucified for fighting another collazo or algieri). khan's career in the last few years has been all promise and no delivery. at least brook beat porter who was a real welter on good formHe also damn near turned out Matthysse's lights in the 11th and did his share of damage despite taking that beating. Whatever his limitations, Provodnikov gets to everyone he fights at some point. Khan isn't a great boxer capable of going 12 without Ruslan getting to him. .... who has Provodnikov beaten worth anything? Say what you want about the choice, Ruslan, on multiple occasions, has shown that he can be neutralized behind a good jab and effective use of space; whether Amir Khan has the mental fortitude to stick to the plan for the full twelve rounds is on him. Can't believe people are trying to put this fight down and trying to twist it to discredit Khan. This would be a stylistic nightmare and also a very hard puncher. Some of you who admittedly don't like Khan acknowledge that this deserves applause whereas others are just proving how much of an emotional hater they really are. To outpoint Ruslan you have to go to hell and back, who's beaten him easily? So how is it an easy fight, you clearly think of Khan so highly.
Also, Eddie Hearn and Brook were seriously considering fighting Provo however they said he wouldn't have been ready for September. Ruslan>Chaves. You can argue otherwise but Chaves hasn't beaten anyone when he stepped up and he won his interim title against a guy like 13-11, tough challenger but extremely unproven. Don't **** on this fight and praise Brook-Chaves, both tough fights but one has been promising you Bradley and Marquez and the other is "finally" considering fighting a puncher.
There's no need to trash the matchup, but there isn't anything in the matchup that would have praising it either. It's 'meh'Comment

This reminds me of Bradley Rios, and maybe Brook Chaves (I don't really know Chaves). Fun fights but that will do little to raise the stock of the favorite if he wins.Comment
