I agree with Grantland.com article that Floyd will be the last great American Boxer. That said, I think the sport will go on as it always goes on when the top star retires.

I look forward to seeing how fans react when their favorite guy is at or near the top and gains the ability to select their opposition and control the promotion like Floyd did.

I expect Canelo, GGG and Crawford to greatly benefit from Floyd retiring

Talk about how boring Mayweather is and how much he's killing the sport all you want. Tell me this then, who else can sell 4.4 million PPV's. Average 25 asses in the seats per buy, and you have over 100,000,000 people watching a fight. Please tell me who can bring that much exposure to the sport. Or you can just keep tossing out your blanketed racist comments.

I think Floyd did a great job at selling himself. I give him props for making all that money. But I won't miss any boxer, I love boxing, don't worship any man.

But boxing will be here after any boxer retires. I respect Floyd's wicked skills. I don't need to see manny against Floyd again. Floyd as I & many predicted, would win. A rematch would end with Floyd winning more easily the second time. Historically that is what he does. Makes adjustments for rematches and wins easier. That takes real skill.

Exactly. Of course there is a hole when a big name leaves the sport. Hell even when lesser names than Mayweather or Pacquiao leave there is a gap at the top. Thats kinda how it works. And eventually someone will come & fill in that spot just like all those previous big names that left the sport did.

The world of boxing has changed. The west no longer has a monopoly on champions. Great talent exists all over the world. The Ukrainian brothers took over the heavy weight arena, fought mainly in Germany, and took the focus away from the heavy weight division. Mr. Wilder brought the title back. But HBO & Shotime need to put their mass marketing media machine behind others and there will be no void to fill.

No boxer leaving has ever created any holes and Floyd leaving wont be any different, if anything it will be great for the sport because even though his fights sell they actually push away fans cause after watching one of his circus acts they think thats the normal in boxing.

Farhood is show times frog er ah fraud ! Well he sounds like Kermit the Frog !

Jr showed us how to make a circus out of boxing.

Jr showed us what a real chicken can do in the ring.

Boxing won't die but it might on showtime! Two great fights are coming up that will carry the sport to greater heights .

Thing is, Farhood, like everyone else in media... they're trying to dance and jump thru hoops at the same time to keep fan's attention. What they don't realize is, the real world doesn't work like they perceive it whilst sitting in the boardrooms planning out how so-and-so show or commentary should go. And it's really no different than it's been for many years. Media thinks to remain relevant, they have to latch on to the biggest thing and talk it to death. That is not necessary. How many of us have heard more than enough from Trump? Or the latest reality show mega star? Media thinks if a person isn't ultra familiar to nearly everyone, there's no sense in covering them. I've never went with that theory, and certainly don't now regarding Floydie. This sport has been around well over a hundred years, and still has plenty of life in it. I hear MMA is going to soon kill boxing. Won't happen. I just hope when the Floydie biz is over, it's completely over. But you know every sports show will still welcome him with open arms, even when he's broke, barely able to speak coherently, and the interview circuit is his only income. Won't bother me. I'll be too busy watching the newest stars and the current legends... who actually take the sport seriously, and are good role models. In fact, IMO the only way boxing dies is if we get further away from the true role models who built the sport.

Hasn't that already happened? Compare the boxers of today to the ones of yesterday.

Mayweather is claiming that he won't fight beyond the bout with Berto. He is the biggest and most well known fighter in the world, with nobody yet in position to take his star power throne. Manny Pacquiao is second biggest star in boxing and he's a few fights away from retirement as well.

What Farhood meant to say is it will leave a large whole for him because he won't have any fights to call. Haymon and Floyd hoodwinked Shotime.
