If you're strength is being a boxer and you have good range, reflexes, speed and footwork I agree

But if brawling and ****ing gives you the best chance to win you gotta do what you gotta do.

That's why I wish fans were more open to an opponent that would force Floyd to stalk and ****.

That fight was a week after my prom I believe. Roy had just gotten ko'd by Tarver and Floyd was in the running for P4P #1 status.

      • It's a smart strategy. Not exactly crowd pleasing, but the best way to win. It's more important to win than to please the crowd.

        • Trouble is, if he did go toe-to-toe a little bit more often people would be more excited by his style.

I think his aversion to risk and safety-first style will always be held against him, especially in comparison to other boxing greats.

But he wasn't always like that. Greats are rated by their prime years, not when they're past prime.

            • Not buying it........

For all of you who are trying to justify Floyd being smart, great, above every other fighter, guess what? You all sound ******. You sound like a bunch of Fanboys. Floyd is NOT paying you to have his back. It shows that if you were a fighter, you'd be AFRAID to be great in a fight and I would beat your asses.

There was a time in boxing, where you had to FIGHT to win. PERIOD. Not BS your way through 12 rounds by holding, running, implementing illegal tactics to avoid being hit. This is what Floyd does. The guy is tentative and looks unsure of himself. Floyd is a very insecure person and it shows in the ring. He is not on past ATG's level. Know why? Because it requires a type of toughness that only animals possess. That's why. For instance. If Floyd had fought Duran, SRL, Hearns, or Hagler, he would have to take punishment and pain that he has NEVER experienced before inside a ring. Hell, if he had tried to really show who was better against Manny, he would've crumbled. Manny would've probably stopped Floyd. He KNOWS this. He had an issue taking Manny's punches and that's why he fought the way he did. In the very first round against a SRL or a Hearns, you would see WHY Floyd isn't on their level and should not even be mentioned in the same breath. The jury is out on him. I wouldn't be surprised if he pays off the judges or Vegas. He has TOO much control in boxing! No other fighter has had this type of control, nor has any other fighter gone to extreme measures to assure victory. having dinner with Refs????? Shouldn't that be illegal? Why would an honest fighter want to do that? Why would a secure fighter care what another fighter is doing in camp? Why would you spy on your opponent if you're a secure fighter? Don't get me started this morning on the FRAUD. Because that's what he is. He is no ATG either. A HOF'mer is the most I'd give him. He is not so great and May 2nd proved that. He looked ORDINARY against a smaller BUT as skilled fighter in Manny. What do you think the BIG Four would've done to him? Floyd is overrated.

Could you provide some examples of these "true warriors" who are now retired?
