    No way.

BTW, the calibre of Salido = a tough experienced crafty vet, who was right on top of his game at that point in time.
You're right, Kov might have lost to a overweight, 3 time titlest almost 20 year pro. Salido has a good chin, he has been KO'd 5 times, but as a kid fighting in Mexico. Could Loma survived that?
I like Kov, but he has a split decision win against Darnell Boone early in his career.
Boone was never a champ, but rocked Andre Ward, plus KO'd Adonis Stevenson right before that, but Boone was KO'd by Marco Antonio Periban in less than 90 seconds in the fight right after Kov.

Loma vs Gamboa sounds great, Gamboa only has so many fights left, so why not make some good fights. Gamboa is always fun to watch.

      Only his second professional fights

10-11 pounds is a big difference when you weigh so little

Low blows the entire fights makes a difference when the referee is on your side

Already the racists show up and start hating on a solid prospect for no good reason. No surprise. Nonstop racist for ya.

Gamboa faded thats why he lost to TC. Not so much size bcuz he was doing well early, once he started to fade Crawford took over. As for LomaGamboa, im all for it. Although id prefer Gamboa to bounce bk and climb bk up the ratings 1st, i definately wouldnt complain if it happens now. I just dont think this fight'll happen with Lomas stance. Its a dam shame fights like this dont happen..in every division all the best possible match ups almost never happen(generally speaking)

But none of those matchups matter on the larger boxing landscape.

          Not one of them.

Some were good fights, and some will add color to ones resume.....

..... but title defenses against the very best your division has to offer (with NO excuses) will make the biggest impact when it come to hof selection.

Gamboa will not make the hof by making irrelevant appearances in multiple divisions..... winning some / losing some..... but achieving little/nothing of note.
Exactly why are you a boxing fan?

kovalev's jab would hurt a fight shorter and slower than him he fought vets early it was not lomo's first fight..kovalel is better end of story lomo was a runner who couldnt mix it up or figure it out..kovalev is not there to figure u out..u are there to figure him out while he throws 30 jabs a roudn in your faces

              Yep ^^

They threw Loma in the deep end because..... 1) he had very deep amateur experience..... 2) he had a phenonemal skillset..... 3) he had a a great work ethic / training regimen, and they assumed that would help bridge the pro/am gap..... 4) they saw Salido as a very limited fighter.

              They were wrong.

              1) this is the pro game
              2) you dont throw a kid in with a vet

The Top Rank matchmakers ALL know that.

It was a noob mistake..... they just thought/hoped that Loma was good enough to bridge the gap against a limited stationary fighter..... they were likely kicking themselves immediately following that fight.

They would never have considered matching Kovalev tough like that because he did not have the experience/skillset/development that Loma had..... and because they saw Salido as a convenient opponent.

I could understand you asking that of a fan who appeared to have either very low or non-existant standards.

But you assuming that someone is not a fan, because they have a deep understanding of the history of this sport and do not want to see the standards lowered, sounds a little..... convenient, to me.

So I would have to say..... why are you asking ?

Plans are not made for " today ".

Those guys are two divisions apart, at least.

Any plan that includes an opponent two divisions away, is a pretty damn flexible gameplan thats for sure.

                  Gamboa offers Loma nothing imho.

i dont know, I'm keen on the fight I suppose, but I doubt it will ever happen.
u highlighted today as if this is not a sport of "today" fights dont happen right before HOF selections..its wat u do the memorable fights that u make that get u to that point...if gamboa and lom has 3 bouts they money would increase every time if it is good enough..there is nothing at 126 that gets him that bc tr has nothing there...if they even have 1 match the winner will be tlaked about and considered in the race for a title shot at 130 likely a big draw as well bc well over 1 million ppl will watch that on hbo..u have no clue what u are talkin about saying he has a plan!..i'm sure the plan includes beatin the best

Kovalev fights to his style really well, but Loma is more well-rounded.

Loma will perform better against a wider range of styles, and against a higher level of opponent.

Some fair points there, esp the bold.
