They couldn't find another date?
Shame it's going to go up against Matthysse vs. Postol, which is a very competitive fight and it's for the title as well.Comment

My eyes are a little sensitive to light right now, so i'm a little disoriented when reading. I just read the article and it had no mention of which title, just a "super light weight title fight". I know its something you can just boxrec, but you should also put it in the article as well for casuals and non members of the site who just read articles. It is for the vacant WBA 140 title. It's basic information that should be in the article.
Anyway, this is actually a pretty good fight.Comment

This will be like early this year when Haymon and Showtime foolishly put Chavez's fight head to head despite HBO weeks earlier announcing their fight with Matthyssee. HBO killed them in the ratings. I see the same thing happening here, since the move to PBC Showtime has lost tons of boxing fans and the ratings have been terrible. Showtime would of been wise putting this on another weekend. Matthysee fight is more relevant fight and has a strong undercard.Comment

I don't think HBO will kill them cause Broner is one of biggest attractions they have and has proven that. But I just think it's foolish to try and compete with HBO. The ratings will be lower for both because of this. When they could have otherwise put this fight on a different date and that would have benefited both parties involved and the fans as well. This will be like early this year when Haymon and Showtime foolishly put Chavez's fight head to head despite HBO weeks earlier announcing their fight with Matthyssee. As a fan, there is nothing I hate more than watching a fight on TV and then searching through online streams to catch the other fights at the same time.
From my understanding Oct. 10 was wide open. There's no competition on that date. Same goes for the first couple weeks in November. But they went with Oct. 3 instead? It's annoying.Comment

This is a good fight. I can't hate on it.
The fact it's for a title is a disgrace. And it feels like its set up so Broner just has to stay on his feet to win. Don't bring up Maidana or Porter, either. Both those guys kicked Broner's ass too easily to be robbed.Comment

I do. Remember Chavez Jr has a bigger fanbase then Broner. He has headlined PPV and his fight prior produced the highest TV ratings in Boxing for that year. And he fought against a more relevant named fighter. And still they got smoked in the ratings head to head with HBO. Now you Matthysee who is on everyone's number 1 ranking at 140, with Danny Garica vacating and moving to 147, fighting another top 140 fighter for a title. Here you got 2 fighters both coming off loses one guy hasn't fought in a year and a half and isn't on credible top 10 ranking. Neither is deserving of a title shot.I don't think HBO will kill them cause Broner is one of biggest attractions they have and has proven that. I agree it's ****** but this is all Haymon. It's been a trend where HBO has already announced fights and then he goes ahead and weeks later either tries to block the venue or steal the date and go head to head. HBO refused the Lemieux vs Ndam fight mainly because PBC already had a fight that date and so did Andre Ward. But it's clear Haymon is going out his way to put on shows against HBO not the other way around. Matter fact the Matthysee fight that went head to head with Chavez Haymon tried to steal the venue and blocked other venues which is why it was forced to some casino in NY. It's actually named in the lawsuit Top Rank filed against Haymon.Last edited by bigdunny1; 08-28-2015, 03:21 PM.Comment

do you think broner is bigger than Chavez jr? At least when jr quit itwas against a guy some people have heard of. Whereas broner lost twice (which people are happy with) I dont think they'd care for his next fight especially against an unknown fighter.HBO would kill them againI don't think HBO will kill them cause Broner is one of biggest attractions they have and has proven that. Ratings suggest that he is. There's something about Broner that people love to watch. Even with two losses people are still going to tune in and watch him. Whether it's his antics or his failures within the ring, he's must see TV. Kind of like Chavez Jr.do you think broner is bigger than Chavez jr?
