Are the fanboys on this thread serious? Broner fought maidana cause he underestimated him and Porter cause they thought the catchweight would drain him. Does he evens sell in his hometown anyway after all that? I hope JDJ does a good job preparing his fighter for the upset

It's crazy to think about what boxing has become when guys like guerrero and broner become 4 division champions.

How can you justify Broner being a top 4 guy at 140? What wins warrant that high a ranking at 140? Again his last 2 fights he did not make 140, one because he missed weight the last was at welterweight. The 2 fights prior were against weak competition Taylor and Carlos Molina at 140. The fights before and after his stretch at 140 were 2 embarrassing loses at 147. And the guy he is fighting for the title is coming off a loss and a year and half layoff. This being a title fight is joke no matter how you try to spin in. The last quality win for Broner was against Paulie back in 2013. He has literally done nothing since but fight bums or lose badly when he faces quality guys.

It SHOULD be so hard to get a title in this sport. I wish it were that way. Someone like Broner shouldn't be anywhere NEAR a title shot until having some comeback fights vs top 15, top 10, and then top 5 competition.

It would make the title fights that much more compelling. Unfortunately it's ALL about the money. Broner's mouth and flash make money. Broner with a title means $$$ and big fights promoters. So they do whatever they can to get the marketable guys every chance in the book.

Heck, a REMATCH between Mosley (1-4-1 since 2010) and Mayorga (who has lost every meaningful fight since Forest in 2003) is on PPV

Well the good thing about Broner is after his first loss, and the one after, is he didn't implode like some larger than life personalities do when they lose. He seems to be showing one of the qualities of being a pro that is important, that is to keep moving forward. He may not be "About Billions" but it is not too bad being "About Thousands". It's income. Using Naseem Hamed as an example of the same type of arrogance, when his cork was pulled, he evaporated, Broner didn't. That says something.

If he wins he might literally be the worst 4 division champ in Boxing history. Basically all were paper belts. He has never proven himself to be the best fighter at any of those weights. Half were vacated belts he won. Or against title holders that NOBODY considered the true best fighter at that weight. The most successful defenses he's ever had for any of his paper belts is one. Think about that. Would of had 2 successful defenses for one of his paper belts but the fat boy missed weight. This dude is a product of Al Haymon making some shady moves in the background to always get him in line for title shot.

Broner hasn't been impressive, and hadn't looked like he's filing his potential for a long time. But I can't be justify the ranks. The WBA chose to put broner there. They've got two belts opened up and picked the fighters they feel would represent the WBA at 140. Right now anyone that has done more than broner at 140 is coming off a loss just like he is. Imam is targeting the WBC belt. Provo is most likely gonna target the wbo as a former champ or go up for rios, and Herrera is off the Lundy win with a nasty cut.

Like literally look at the WBA rankings for 140. A lot of guys are already making other plans.
