  • Comments Thread For: Wilder is Warned By Scott That Duhaupas is No Joke

Deontay Wilder cannot afford to take challenger Johann Duhaupas lightly when they meet on September 26, says Malik Scott.

The unbeaten WBC world heavyweight champion (34-0-KO33) takes on France's Duhaupas (32-2-KO20) in Alabama amid suggestions the bout is merely a warm-up for Wilder's prospective clash with Alexander Povetkin.

But Scott, who was halted by the 29-year-old Wilder inside a round in March 2014, is confident Duhaupas presents a legitimate challenge and also talked up his fellow American's previous opponent, Eric Molina.

I agree with Scott, Duhaupas is a dangerous fighter for anyone, he may not win but he always makes you really earn the win, nobody has an easy night against him

        Yeah. That sucks...

        He literally has no shame.
First Scipio... I mean Malik Scott not only goes to the trouble of pretending to be "knocked out" by a slap, he then proceeds to try to unabashedly sell this as a not absolutely laughable fight and a completely embarrassing farce.

Malik Scott hoping for some Nate Jones Mayweather type job with Team Wilder when his embarrassing career is over looks like.

Duhaupas isn't a world beater but with a couple of close fights with fringe contenders so he knows he can hang with top 20 guys. I think Wilder should win but I always think of Buster Douglas who was in similar position as Johann is in. Douglas had a few good fights with top 20 guys & then pulled the upset, Rahman (Who was better then Douglas or Duhaupas) beating Lewis & then we have Michael Bentt beating Tommy Morrison. Anything can happen in HW boxing...

Pretty bad logic here. Boxing is about levels and giving EBU level guys like Teper and Pianeta some issues in losses hardly suggests that Duhaupas would at least do the same to better fighters.

I don't think Wilder has proved he is better yet.

He has a belt but his resume is a joke, there's only 1 name on it that you give any credit for beating.

This French guy coming off a win against Charr is a better opponent than we usually get from Wilder. If it wasn't for his belt, that's the level Wilder belongs at at the moment.

They wrote off Molina because he's a bum!

Aside from Stiverne, Wilder has only faced has-beens or bums.

Why does anyone think that the only fighter he faced that wasn't garbage, went the distance with him?

                    It's self explanatory.
