In 1990 Michael Nunn was rated #3 pound for pound behind Julio Cesar Chavez & Pernell Whitaker
In a far far deeper P4P era too. The fact that out of prime Pac was number 2 and aging cherry picking Floyd are considered 1+2 says a lot about this era. As you said you had prime JCC, prime Pernell and prime Michael Nunn 1,2 +3, and James Toney in his prime around 6 or 7 i'd imagine and prime Mike at about number 4 or 5 probably. Can you post the entire list please?
At their respective points in their career Michael Nunn was way in his prime (though him abandoning Goosen and getting lazy with training started to show in some performances - but that's another discussion) whereas Pacquiao was gradually sliding out of his prime for years. That is not to say Mayweather Jr. beating him should be discredited (because it's a great win), but Nunn was more prime than was Pacquiao and was more skilled than was Pacquiao. Pacquiao has great skills, but in no where in his career was he on level skill wise w/Michael Nunn in his prime years between '86-'91
Michael Nunns resume is nowhere near Mannny Pacquiao's. He's a good/great fighter but he is nowhere near Pacquiao in terms of accomplishments, resume, impact on the sport.
Toney had a rough time with Dave Tiberi. I had him losing that one.
He also easily could have lost against Sosa, Johnson, all 3 McCallum fights.
Then he actually did lose to Drake Thazdi, Montel Griffin twice and drew with Sanderline Williams.
What impressive victories does Toney have? Iran Barkley? Nunn I suppose considering he knocked him out after being well behind on the cards.
Jirov too, though it is highly debateable. I thought he was behind on the cards but I don't really have a problem with him winning as he beat Jirov half to death in the final round and the fight should have been stopped.
