True or False: James Toney's win over Michael Nunn is better than any win of Floyd's?

Looking through Floyd's resume and thinking that Toney's resume whoops Floyds. Is Mayweather's win over Cotto or non-prime Pac a better win thaqt Toney's over Michael Nunn?

Idk about that. Nunn was a great mw and had a good record. But it's hard to compare guys on Nunn's resume to guys on Floyd's opponents resume. First off boxing was a lot different back then and carefully micromanaging a boxers career really wasn't done to the extent it is today. Nunn and the guys Nunn fought before Toney were career boxers. They fought for a living and fought whoever made financial sense. Today though it's like every challenger or champion has to emulate some kind of ATG status by having a pretty resume. This stemming from better management behind fighters today that strategically pick opponents that benefits the A side only. I mean it's really just because guys who want to make it to the top want every advantage possible. Anyways you look at Floyd's opponents and yea they have notable wins but overall they've been steered away from risky fights, where is 20 odd years ago that would be considered sacrilegious

Honestly at the time Michael nunn was considered a monster... When he demolished Tate and others from 87-90 he looked like a future great...

Nunn had a great jab, great boxing skills, and good power.. People seem to forget that nunn was coasting to a decision win over toney when he got lazy and overconfident and got wrecked late by toney..

But going into the fight, nunn was a legit monster... Corrales is probably the closest as he was considered a monster when floyd fought him, though nunn had higher quality wins than corrales

nunn was at his peak going into the toney fight, he was coming off wins over Tate, sulumbay, Barkley, roldan, curry, starling.... All really legit guys especially Tate and sulumbay at the time

Toney was coming on. He was starting to land more. Nunn was definitely winning though.

This is an interesting question. The answer may be yes. Nunn was on fire at the time. He was in his prime and he was one of the best p4p fighters in the world.

Floyd has never fought a fighter as good as Nunn in their prime. Castillo and Corrales may have had comparable careers. They were not at skilled at the time Toney beat Nunn.

If not for Toney being lazy he could have been a top 20 great. I really don't think James did anything other than spar a lot. Roach was on record saying Toney did no road work at all, and that he was the best natural talent he'd ever trained.

              Toney came on late...

First 8 rounds was basically all nunn, gliding around, pumping the jab and piling up the rounds on toney..
Then in the 9th toney landed a few good shots and at least had a good round, and then again in the 10th but nunn was clearly up 8-2 or maybe 7-3.. Nunn didn't seem to worried about toney and was very nonchalant even though toney was finding more and more success... Then bam!! Toney drops him in the 11th and straight up beats down nunn...

He has comparable wins. It's arguable.

Nunn was on an absolute tear tho when Toney beat him. Best win of Toney's career by far.
