Or get caught and hurt himself. You have to remember Canelo is a superb Counter puncher and Cotto going for a KO will only leave him open for Monstrous counter punches from Canelo... it sounds to me that youre highly underestimating Canelo.. you might want to reavaliuate your position here..

What? Lara has been and is still currently a world champion.

Any logic being used to remotely suggest Geale is better than Erislandy Lara is ridiculous.

And no, that Martinez who wasn't even medically cleared to spar was not double the fighter of anyone. He was a cripple who's knee was buckling just by moving.

I was referencing when he fought Canelo and he had the interim title, meaning he had title 2/2 or however many they had. It's not different than the WBC with Trout having the "regular" WBA title and Floyd was super awesome hyper champion. But yes, we can say he was champion... he won it by beating Angulo. Who is a D class fighter himself, who beat Kirkland... do you see how this is going?

And I wasn't comparing Geale to Lara I was comparing Martinez to Lara. Martinez is better than Lara in every sense of the word. He would KO a guy like Delvin, in fact he did. His run of the Euro MW's showed this. Geale was comparing to Kirkland and Angulo. He is a B level fighter, the other two are D level fighters. This cannot be denied. If you want to make an argument because Lara is harder to hit as him being "better" fine, but to think Angulo and Kirkland are world class anything other than bums is simply absurd.

The opposite is true for Canelo, his competititon has progressively gotten worse since the Mayweather fight, not better and he only looked impressive because Kirkland has a glass jaw. And really at the end of the day Geale/Martinez are MUCH higher caliber of fighters than Kirkland and Angulo.
Of course Canelo's competition has gotten worse since Mayweather. When you fight the best in the world, your competition can only go down. However, his wins over Lara, Angulo and Kirkland are, in my view, better than Rodriguez, Geale and Martinez.

Anyway, the original point was about improvement. Since Cotto is already a pretty old fighter who achieved plenty in his career, it is far harder for him to improve. He would have almost certainly blown away the aforementioned three with or without Roach, making it difficult to assess his improvement. Canelo on the other hand is a far younger fighter and suffered from inexperience and froze on the big stage vs Mayweather. Since then he has headlined his own shows and has matured as a fighter.

What? His body is now more matured and he has grown into a man. If Cotto is relying on this to help him succeed he's in for a shock.

and now Canelo is gonna badly hurt Cotto. I like Cotto but i think the age and ring wear ob Cotto is not in his favor against the young stronger Canelo.

Once Canelo applies that relentless pressure Cotto is going to mentally crumble! Thats my take.

BUT...If Freddie restored that quality mental strength, we may have a good ass war!

It amazes me that the people on this site will use Cotto's past losses (no matter how long ago they occurred) to Pacquaio and Margarito as justification for their claims that Alvarez will KO Cotto. Yet, they are seriously perturbed when others use Alvarez's past performance to criticize him.

When he was 19-20. And then he got stopped by a kid

If my brother landed a shot on a kid stunned him, and then got knocked out, it'd be the last thing we brag about, let alone talk about.

Its the same thing as people always using the "Cottos brother hurt him, miguel will knock him out" line.. it goes both ways, Canelo is not only fresher then cotto, hes mentally stronger as well which will be detrimental to Canelo's success in the fight.
