I can't wait to see the excuses on this message board after Cotto KO's Alvarez. I hope it happens in the first round.

People who make excuses dont belong on this website.. The truth is the real boxing fans win that night regardless of who wins or who loses....Battle lines have been Drawn and it appears you have picked your side.. With that said may the best man WIN and good luck, cause Cotto is going to need it!

if cotto's banking on fighting the same guy that fought his brother he is f#cking ******ed.
        I agree.
However, I don't believe that was cottos intent. His thought is that canelo is not gonna be fighting his brother on 11-21. So true canelo isnot the same fighter. But its also true that Miguel is not Jose. Which is canelos problem.

And no, that Martinez who wasn't even medically cleared to spar was not double the fighter of anyone. He was a cripple who's knee was buckling just by moving.
... Lara held his belt, as they fought at 155... That is why Lara agreed not to step up and beat Canelo... That's why I put a bet on Canelo winning by a "hard fought decision"...
... Canelo is very protected -- he will win against Cotto... No doubt about it...

... (Do they announce the scorecards after 4th rounds? )

Edit: Martinez was a "deadman walking"...

Anyway, the original point was about improvement. Since Cotto is already a pretty old fighter who achieved plenty in his career, it is far harder for him to improve. He would have almost certainly blown away the aforementioned three with or without Roach, making it difficult to assess his improvement. Canelo on the other hand is a far younger fighter and suffered from inexperience and froze on the big stage vs Mayweather. Since then he has headlined his own shows and has matured as a fighter.
Roger Mayweather would like to say something to you...

So what if Canelo is younger, he has more pro fights than Cotto. The only difference is the quality of fighters faced and Cotto has shown he's better against better competition. Age only matters if stamina is an issue, Canelo even being younger has the same stamina as Cotto. So what does it matter if he's younger? He's inexperienced with no major physical advantages except for possible a better chin. And being younger, again means he hasn't improved.

You must be fooling yourself if the guy who showed up against Trout beats Geale or Martinez. No one thought that even after one fight with Roach, but here's the thing. Cotto has made a change in his camp and it's showing in his fight. You're saying Canelo is better and their still having BBQ's at the gym between rounds when sparring. There hasn't been any change in Canelo and that's not to say he can't beat other fighters but Cotto's style is nothing like Kirkland or Angulo which is what Canelo does well against and Cotto is far superior to both of them.
