OK so what? Cotto was hurt and put down how many times? Hell Floyd wobbled Cotto bad at the end of their fight with a run of the mill punch. This fight result is not about Cotto's skills or improvement or whatever. The fact is Cotto's face comes apart easily and there is NO way he can take Canelo's punches for 12 rounds. So unless Cotto KO's Canelo he is getting stopped probably. Kirkland was a human dump truck and withstood brutal beatings from monster punches and Canelo almost decapitated him. Cotto better come out like gangbusters and attack Canelo and take him out quick or he is getting beaten to a pulp.

    War Canelo!

did i say they were the only ones? i compared them to children, which, if you watched their rhetoric concerning sergio martinez and his level of deterioration at the time of the cotto fight, is appropriate.

they finally shut up when sergio retired, and admitted to being hardly able to train or spar in the lead up to the cotto fight. he was all done, was martinez, by the time cotto got to him. there wasn't a more shot fighter with a world title on the planet. he was a purely athletic fighter who had lost all of his athleticism. he had nothing left. cotto's fans acted like he was prime, and that it was a great win. that guy wouldn't even fight golovkin.

go look for interviews from lou dibella on the subject of fighting gennady golovkin while sergio was still champion. you're not gonna like what you see they weren't willing to fight golovkin. they took the cotto fight.

this tactic you are using is called a strawman. you ignore somebody's argument and make your own.

khan got knocked the hell out and beat up as he aged. there's a big difference.

he was completely lucid when prescott knocked him out. an injury to your brain like that will compromise your chin for the rest of your life.

He hurt Sergio because he was a injured shell of himself with bad knees. Canelo is not 40 and has 2 good knees.
Come back here during fight night right after Canelo gets hurt by a body punch and I will gladly explain......

Canelo has had maybe three big fights in his life, and they were a loss to Floyd, a win against Trout, and fight that could have gone wither way against the Cuban school of boxing. That doesn't address the point I'm making.
Experience means A LOT more than just having big fights. Cotto is the faster, smarter, quicker fighter. He has has more ring I.Q. than Canelo.

Stamina, power and strength they are equal at best and Cotto is probably better at those as well. Cotto has more power in his left hook than Canelo has with any punch, but Canelo has more pop in his right hand. Basically Cotto's left is better than Canelo's right hand, but Canelo's left hand is better than Cotto's right hand.

Canelo could possibly MAYBE be stronger physically like pushing on the inside etc... again that's being very nice to Canelo, but not only does he never actually do that, Cotto does and he does it far better than Canelo anyway which makes any strength advantage go out the window.

Cotto is better on the outside, on the inside and in the pocket and his defense is better. The only thing I'd say Canelo has that is better than Cotto is his chin and his best punch, the uppercut in my opinion, is a weakness of Cotto's. Freddie cleaned up his defense but someone is always open and for Cotto it's it's the uppercut. All that being said I can't pick the guy with the better chin and uppercuts.

It sounds like Margarito but Canelo throws less than half the amount of punches Margarito used to throw a round, he's actually smaller than Margs and he doesn't pressure like Marg's. Wide decision win for Cotto. 9-3. That has nothing to do with anyone's experience just boxing ability.

People on this site act as if Cotto is attacking their children with his comments. This is a sporting event. Cotto is talking trash. Nothing more. Nothing less. None of it means anything.

Difference between 19 yo and 25 is big, because you are still growing. He is more durable now, thats for sure. So, Ricans talking about how bad Canelo's chin is, should look at their idol doing the stanky leg after getting punched by friggin Mayweather.
