We dont get HBO/SHO in my country.....and that furthers my point, the fight would generate more than what would be offered solely on one network with a purse bid. you have the two biggest players in one division, both looking to completely unify the division, one side wants to fight to be made for the most money which is why the purse bid is a option, the other side wants it done on the network their fighter is tied to, we DO NOT know what hbo is willing to offer each side but they we do know they didnt want to match one side's pending offer compared to what in their consistent budget would have been offered for the fight, if hbo were willing to make stevenson his career day, they would have made an offer in terms of $ much like duva did with beterbiev where they lay down the provisionals to what the fighters would be and the 50/50 split on the table. point blank, if HBO knows how important it is based on what you said, they could have easily entertained the bid, duva didnt, and then when they tried to reschedule it, she made it clear she wants no part of a highest bidder option, its her way, her fighters network, or no fight, no matter what the offer was.
But from an outsider perspective, lately it seems..... HBO = second-rate ?
Except for GoT, of course.
Dont know, just how it seems.Comment

no way. HBO has budgetary constraints but if you could do a side by side of what HBO and Showtime have put up this year, there simply is no comparison...complete landslide victory for HBO.
PBC has gotten a lot of coverage and are on a lot of channels now but the quality of the shows isn't all that. Weekly boxing is great but PBC is losing money like a sieve loses water and these kinds of expenditures are not sustainable.Comment

Adonis Stevenson: "I Want To Be Undisputed Champion"
Hey, me too. And guess what, your method is the best I've found so far. So I'm launching my pro-boxing career at age 63. It'll be great. Nothing but soft opposition, and then before you know it, king of the mountain. Woo-hoo!!!

Kind of hard to believe that is what you truly want out of this sport cause you already had the opportunity before and you passed on it.
Its fine to just make money and keep it moving, no shame in that to a point but when you start pretending like you want this fight or that fight and do the opposite you just make a fool of yourself.Comment

If Stevenson didnt want the fight, then why did they push for a purse bid ?Kind of hard to believe that is what you truly want out of this sport cause you already had the opportunity before and you passed on it.

Kovalev could have simply called his bluff, right ?
That is kinda like the pacfans calling Mayweather a coward for insisting upon a higher level of drug testing.... but then being completely unable to explain why Manny didn't simply call his bluff and take the harmless blood test.Comment

Obviously Kovalev is not fighting off HBO anytime soon, at least in North America. So purse bid = no fight. Stevenson could go HBO if he wanted, would be good for his career. If he won of course, which is the issue. If Stevenson didnt want the fight, then why did they push for a purse bid ?

As you write your ******ed response, please remember you admitted you don't know HBO from BETComment
