There is no point in arguing who said what. It's known that GGG told HBO he would fight Ward in 2013.

But this thread is about Ward's next opponent, not GGG. Who do you think he fights?
Who is there to fight? Degale is waiting to see if Groves beats Jack to set up a big British fight. Abraham wants to fight Sturm which is a big money fight in Germany.

Only Golovkin or Kovalev are appealing fights to me, everyone else is meh. Kovalev wouldn't be an undercard fight and the Golovkin fight needs to come first if he's to fight both for obvious reasons.

It wouldn't be an undercard fight it' be a co-main event and be marketed as such.

What is the obvious reason? So he doesn't have to come back down in weight after moving up? Because that's what you want GGG to do. Move up for Ward and come back down for Cotto/Canelo.

Loeffler already said Ward requested the fight and they didn't even enter negotiations with Ward. So yes Ward did "do a thing" and no Golovkin didn't tell HBO he wanted the fight.

Ward-Golovkin is a bigger fight than Lemieux and would sell more PPV, Golovkin is guaranteed a shot at the WBC belt, fighting Ward wouldn't change that even if he lost. So those excuses are bull****.
I doubt it would sell more ppvs. Ward is not popular, and worse yet, his style doesn't appeal to casuals. It's guaranteed buyer remorse, unlike Lemieux. Not to mention he wants more money, and doesn't bring an extra revenue stream like Lemieux with the Canadian ppv

Difference being, Ggg is doing great business in his division, and Ward is trying to fight Zac Dunn on undercard
