I feel what you're saying...but the hype surrounding the two is way different...BHop wasn't getting network nuthugged like GGG is....BHop wasn't labeled as the "MOST FEARED"...BHop wasn't claiming he'd body anybody from 154-168....GGG is more hyped than BHop EVER was...so with that hype and network nuthugging comes great responsibility....same with Floyd claimingg to be TBE without fighting Pac....it just didn't sit right....GGG is considered a SUPERSTAR....BHOP at 160 was fighting on BET for ****s sake...he wasn't obligated to step up big because he wasn't given the big shoes like GGG has been given....SUPERSTARS are expected to do extraordinary things...so if we have to accept that this guy is a SUPERSTAR and some type of wrecking machine, then his team and fans must respect that we want him to PROVE it and live up to the hype

Difference here is Adonis could've stayed on HBO and had that one fight with Kovalev and then gone his way. Adonis already fulfilled his contract with Showtime which was on a fight by fight basis which is why he was being discussed for CBS if Duva had been a ****** woman and voided her contract with HBO. Kovalev on the other hand just got an EXTENSION which is a huge difference between a new contract. Adonis got shhh for it? Yeah two days and then it became a shhh fest on Kovalev. Hopkins had no problem signing the fight in two days though...

Ok all I ever hear on these boards is black boxers are cowards(May, quillin, etc) and haymon sucks. Not much about Kovalev and GGG being bashed on for being white ( considering GGG is half Korean) their may be a few but Stevenson is the bad guy to most.

Also like I said they both are looking out for their own interest. I see your point on Stevenson being in a different situation but walking away from the purse bid did Kovalev no favors but with Kovalev, Duva should of called his bluff and taken the risk, as far as I know he had one fight left he takes that fight then free for Stevenson.... He may win he may lose but the reward for winning are so sweet.

I'm not sure Kovalev's chin is all that bad. Apart from that one video where he got dropped at 165lbs in the amateurs, I've never seen him genuinely hurt to the head.

HBO's boxing budget isn't what it once was, HBO's boxing schedule is basically down to maybe 5-6 shows to close out the year, and everyone has already seen that HBO is unwilling to compete with the market for the fight.

Kovalev will fight in Russia against a no-hoper (for a show that I doubt HBO picks up), vacate the IBF title when Michel/Haymon/Beterbiev come for the fight, fight some other soft touch to open up the year (Fonfara/Cleverly/Brahemer will likely settle out for Kovalev's WBA belts), and then hope beyond hope that Andre Ward and his camp go to light heavyweight, giving up 15-20 pounds in the ring come fight night.

kafkod writes the same thing for every Stevenson-Kovalev post, as if he/she earnestly believes that HBO is the only outlet willing to put money behind big fights.

I mean how much longer are people going to f'ing ignore the fight. He left HBO and only when the fight couldn't get made started talking shhhh. I get it Kovalev is white and has had some questionable quotes out there but for the love of god put that aside and face the facts. These guys wanted a purse bid because they knew the fight wouldn't get made that way and they weren't going to void their contract and it now gives him "false ammunition to fire off his guns". This is all smoke and mirrors, who the hell is Adonis facing on PBC or Showtime worthy of tuning in for? Nobody, so he's comfortable talking shhh and getting paid to fight non-threats. Yet Kovalev gets heat for fighting his mandatory. Go figure.
