No it's not. Andre Ward at SMW and Floyd Mayweather Jr. JMW are lineal champs, not Ring champs.

Donnie Nietes is Ring champ, not lineal champ.

Hatton was able to transfer the lineage over to Pac; Tarver was able to pass the lineage over B-Hop. I'm under the assumption that Cotto/Canelo will leave the division, hence why the remaining MWs needs to establish a new lineage just in case the Cotto/Canelo winner stops defending it. It's up to GGG/Lemieux/Jacobs/Quillin/Lee/Saunders.

This is true,if Cotto and or Canelo just leave the division a new lineage would have to start....They could really **** up this division

People will find a reason to criticize whichever decision is made. If GGG fights at a CW, he's desperate. If he doesn't and only cares about the belt, he's ******.

IMO, he should just keep fighting @MW until he can't make the weight anymore or he gets all of the belts. If Cotto/Canelo only want to fight him @CW, **** them. I'm sick of catchweights.

I agree 100 percent.golovkin should stay and go on a marvin hagler like run and dominate the middleweight division.theres not that many fighters who stay and dominate their weight class like in the past.it would be cool to see.

You can not be stripped of lineage man,its not a belt..Lineage means the man who beat the man,you can not be handed lineage...

Him and his team brought it on themselves man,by 1st saying everyone from 154-168 is ducking them and they will fight anyone..Then saying they want Froch and Chavez Jr at 168..But then saying they would only fight Ward at 164. Dont care how you want to excuse or explain it they did it to themselves. Now he is in no position to demand anything from Cotto or Canelo at the winner can drop the WBC belt and still have the Ring title and be the Lineal champ and WOULD NEVER HAVE TO FIGHT HIM PERIOD. So if he wants the fight he will except the catchweight (since he says he can make 154 it should not be a problem)

see the problem with that ggg is cotto and canelo will vacate just to get a better seat at negotiating table thats the reality ggg has to realize both are not middleweights cant blame them if they do. then again ggg is more worried about getting all these belts then actually fighting the best

Same can be said about GGG demanding a catchweight for Ward and not Froch and Chavez Jr right?

Thing is if GGG wants to be a superstar he has to actually fight a superstar and he will have to sacrifice to make those fights happen just like others have throughout history

Right, and that's why so many people want to see GGG vs Canelo/Cotto.

I said this the moment Martinez vs Cotto got made, that if Cotto wins the MW division could get really screwy, with catchweight fights between junior middleweights for the lineage while the best middleweights are left on the outside.

I've tried explaining this before but I guess most of NSB doesn't care but the middleweight division is one of the few divisions where we can trace the lineage back over a decade. Hopkins-Taylor-Pavlik-Martinez-Cotto. It would be a damn shame if it's broken and the #1 MW never gets a crack at it. Lots of history in one of boxings most decorated divisions.
