He's obviously not though. Not how able and them are trying to make it. When/if the fight happens it'll be at 168 not 164. The money split is a whole different thing based on popularity, I get that. But the demands of a catchwieght is laughable and down right embarrassing for the whole GGG team.

A side is about money, weight, venue etc. I'd hope the weight is negotiable, say 166 for 60/40 and 168 for 70/30. They did say this guy Ward insists he's A side, so we'll go 50/50 all the way, weight included.

But Ward's gotta do something while GGG is doing good business at MW. He says he'll move up for Kovalev only after GGG. GGG'll move up for Ward after his mando vs Canelo/Cotto. Those are far bigger names who campaign in the same division. It's a huge MW unification with 3 belts + lineal on the line. In the mean time he's making waves and selling record tickets, and Ward is doing what?

Alright but you gotta understand, going up a division to beat Ward is far beyond anything Ward had ever done, and he became #2 p4p. If Froch hadn't lost his bottle, GGG would have had a good chance to better Ward's best win.

your wrong.btw since greatness according to you is about looking up when is ward going to look up.ward is in a dead division he should of moved up to light heavyweight along time ago.

- GGG's still looking for a major showcase scalp.
- Ward universally recognised as the top man at SM.

Due to the Super6 Ward's resume contains the names of the best at the time, which he beat convincingly. He's been off the circuit for a long time but there's little doubt he dominates 167.

Who's on GGGs resume? Geale, Macklin, Murray, Stephenson? A bunch of "nearly but not quite" contenders. Don't get me wrong, I think G's fantastic but he's yet to go near someone of Ward's calibre.

I wish more boxing fans would keep this in perspective when debating this fight. +1

Same thing happened a couple of years ago. Golovkins' team piped up about Ward and Ward said let's make the fight. Then Sanchez started talking about all the "demands" that Ward was making when he hadn't made any...lol rinse and repeat.

Nailed it. What people are asking GGG to do isn't asked of any other fighter.

And somehow Ward is in the same place as GGG (Undefeated, best in division) and no one is trashing him to move up to fight Kovalev.

It's ironic because Ward already cleaned out his division, and has been a professional for 2 years longer than Golovkin.

...and he said he would fight anyone from 168-175.


Double standards, much?

I firmly believe you do not need to move up in weight class to prove your greatness. If you're a dominant figure at your natural weight, then stick with it if you'd like. GGG and Ward do not need to move weight classes if they don't feel like it. I can respect that, but what I can't respect is when people claim GGG is a, "***** for not moving up" yet they ignore the fact that Ward is in the same situation.
