He proposed 150 at the end of 2011 for a potential fight in 2012. He weighed 153 against Austin Trout in 2013, that's y they accepted the catchweight of 152, the fight got announced like 2.5-3 months in advance, which is enough time to shed off that extra pound, and if he didn't feel good because of the weight he only has himself to blame, he had enough time to make the weight and nobody forced him to sign the contract, if he took the fight knowing he's gonna lose anyway but did it anyway for the money, then that's his fault. No excuses, and if he beat Cotto then fought GGG at 158, GGG can't make excuses either if he lost.

FLoyd never weighed in more than 151, everytime he fought at 154 he was the one moving up to fight a legit hof champion who's been fighting there for a while, if Floyd is a paper champ even though he won the title at 154 twice before he even fought Canelo and fought Canelo at a 13 year disadvantage and almost 20 lbs disadvantage on fight night, What's Sugar Ray Leonard? Who made Donny Lalonde come down a complete weight class to fight for titles for 2 weight classes at the same time, one of them being vacant, can u call him a paper champ? What about Dela Hoya who made Hopkins come down to 156 or Pacquiao who won a vacant 154 title once at 150 against a guy coming off a loss where he got completely destroyed, r these paper champions?

It's the fighter's responsibility to make sure he's a 100% on fight night, can't make excuses afterwards, if u think u won't be a 100% then don't take the fight, plus there are fighters who won fights even though they moved down in weight, Hopkins KOed Dela Hoya and Porter beat Broner, it's about skills not weight.

Canelo has a longer reach than Golovkin (according to boxrec) and is 1 inch shorter. They both weigh in the same at fight-night (168-170)

Cotto is definitely smaller. He plucked the belt off of Martinez. Good for him. Now, either give up the belt or fight as a middleweight.

Roy Jones plucked a belt off a heavyweight. Did he hold that belt hostage or go back to Light Heavy? In case you (or others) forgot RJJ relinquished the heavyweight belt in less than a year.

The WBC does not recognize catchweights for their title defenses. Meaning, if Geale did not make weight and came in at 160 the WBC would still allow him to fight for the title. Cotto would have had to ***** out if he didn't like it.

So if Cotto can't come to terms with Golovkin and fight him at 160 he will be forced to vacate. Cotto has no leverage accept a big payday for Golovkin.

But this is all a mute point because Canelo is going to make Cotto bend the knee.

All paper champs. Leonard Lalonde lives in infamy. Of course Oscars 6th and PACs 8th titles were paper, no one claims otherwise. But Floyds 5th is the paperest, since it looks amazing on paper. Who'd suspect a 2x, unified, lineal champ with a 3+ year tenure would be too small to face all comers at the weight? Will only fight blown up dudes at full 154.

You don't get it. Cotto is lineal MW champ, GGG is his mando. If Cotto insists on a CW, he better make it worthwhile to GGG or drop belt in shame. There's no mandate for GGG Ward at all, the smaller guy can demand it since he's the A side and the gap in popularity is growing fast

GGG is no exception to being a fraud. Wants fighters to fight the full weight of 160 but refuses to fight Ward at the max weight 168 double standards at its finest I hope Cotto beats Canelo, ditches the belt along along a huge paycheck and gives Golovking the finger.

He's obviously had an extremely hard time at middleweight, hasn't he? Cotto turned him down, Felix Sturm (despite GGG being mandatory for over 2 years), Martinez wasn't interested, N'dam pulled out of two purse bids, Quillin wasn't interested prior to the network/haymon feud, Pirog got injured when they were scheduled to fight, hell even Chavez jr & Froch at 168 weren't interested.

So yeah, it's been a long journey just to get title holders like David Lemiuex in the ring.
