Oscar didn't want to put Canelo in with Erislandy Lara for a good reason but he did because it was what his fighter wanted.

He has been begging Cotto and any popular or high quality opponent from 154 to 168 (except Andre Ward) for a fight for the last year. He and his team will take any bone that Cotto chooses to throw at them, if Cotto chooses to fight him.

In spite of what the WBC says now, Cotto will be fighting Floyd Mayweather next May for Cotto's WBC title. Golovkin will be put off for a third time.

If they want the fight they'll concede to whatever Cotto or Canelo want with in reason as far as weight. So they'll go to 154 to fight Mayweather a WW but won't go down to fight the #3***4 Money men in the sport who are both aren't real MW.
