I know all that. (collecting sanctioning fees imo is the only reason they added extra belts)... what am saying is when have they actually started to count the WBA "regular" belt as legit title defenses. imo its more like the WBC interim belt status type of thing.

good point, ppl don't even consider thurman, lara or jacobs the real wba champs in their respective divisions, soooo can we really count GGG's defenses of the "regular" title if he wasn't a true champ till the "super" title

Golovkin ranking higher than Cotto P4P proves that.

Golovkin has done nothing to indicate that he is a P4P fighter.....
..... and yet Cotto, is the very epitome of a P4P fighter.

So, Golovkin is ranked higher P4P than Cotto, despite.....
* having done nothing to prove he is a P4P fighter
* despite Cotto being currently ranked higher than him at middleweight
* despite cotto being a much more accomplished vet and P4P fighter

The best middleweight in the world is none other than Floyd Joy Mayweather.

He's the best in the world 147-160 lbs.

Nah, he has two divisions on lock, he is the best fighter from 147-154.

Not saying that he couldnt beat MW's, especially with a catchweight...... but he clearly does not belong in any conversation at 160..... especially considering the fact that he has never fought above 154.

But Mayweather beats Golovkin at 154, no question about that imho.

Not really, given that the "regular" title opened up when Sturm paid the WBA 500k to promote him to "super" champ, so he wouldn't have to defend against mando GGG. He pretty much forfeited

Well, I am a Mayweather fan, and I listed my 4 preferred opponents as.....

* Lara - the most difficult, and very close to the most deserving
* Cotto - very close to the most deserving, and likely the best fight
* Khan - undeserving, but the best welter, and I would like nothing more than to see him get dished up by Mayweather
* Golovkin - undeserving, the easiest opponent (style-wise, and he would be shot at 154), and I would like nothing more than to see him get dished up by Mayweather

The reason why I only listed Golovkin at #4 is because.....
1) he is not the most challenging opponent for Mayweather
2) he has not earned that payday
3) I would love to watch Mayweather dish him up at 154

edit: and the only reason Golovkin made #4 is because the current crop of welters are underwhelming to say the least.

I understand that he's currently the WBA "super" champion. Which he has 4 defenses of that said belt, not 14.

and the IBO isn't a officially recognized sanctioning body such as WBC, WBA, IBF & WBO.
