Surely Duva is having meetings to, in part, get more financial backing for potential fights in Russia?

I'm assuming that's her goal. But that doesn't necessarily mean that's the right course of action for the Stevenson fight in particular. I'm not a fan of stevenson. In fact I'd say I'm almost confident Kovalev beats him. But I'm also not at all a fan of Duva. And this whole bring the fight to Russia thing, just adds another unnecessary wrinkle.

It would seem to me to be the only way the fight could possibly happen, although even then only if they could get Kovalev re-instated as mandatory, which is possible but probably now unlikely. With Kovalev having to make regular mandatories due to all his belts then it would make sense for Duva and Kovalev to have the sort of financing to outbid Haymon should Haymon ever manoeuvre one of his light-heavies into purse bids with Kovalev.

Nobody was 'caught unaware'. The date of the purse bid was public knowledge. WBC didnt order a purse bid for the very next day. She had time to get her business in order, but being small time, she f-ed up and tried to blame everybody but herself.

she didn't ask her the purse bid, yvon michel did. in the interview that this thread is about she explains that she expected the purse bid to come later (i.e. now), after she had had time to gather some financial support from russia, so that then she and her russian co-promoter could outbid haymon and have the fight under their own terms. haymon and michel pulled a smart move to avoid that, but it was still them who didn't truly want the fight
