Yea that had little to do with Vlad and a lot to do with Povetkin and his backers. Kovalev clearly doesn't have the same backers. Not to mention both fighters are highly prominent in that part of the world. It's really just too difficult to view one fight in isolation and use it as an example of why Russia means more money. Canada has a proven audience, Stevenson is the #1 fighter there and more importantly, they operate in a time zone that's much much more directly to hbo's scheduling and ratings goals. There's numerous reasons why such a big fight makes more money and sense in canada. And pointing out one Vlad fight doesn't overturn thar.Comment

The WBC would have to re-order the purse bid for a second time (third time altogether). It's possible, but they would risk putting Haymon's nose out of joint.Comment

I used to like Duva but this ***** lost me.
***** knew the date of the purse bid. She couldnt have those meetings before????
Sad thing is all along the ***** would write articles and give interviews giving fans BS excuses as to why she turned down the bid. The usual dumb ass suspects lapped it all up.
The reality is she is just small time. Period. Thats the ONE AND ONLY reason the fight didnt happen.
I agree with you on the purse bid though. She should've partnered up with some of that Russian money and made an aggressive offer. I've been saying that from the beginning.Comment

did you read the opening post? that's what she's doing. she was caught unaware last time because gym forced the purse bid prematurelyComment
