I get the point you are trying too make, but let's say canelo gets stopped by cotto.

You think canelo remains the "money man" ?

And I'm just playing devils advocate. I got canelo for the win November 21
Cotto was stopped 2x and is still the money man.

Besides my point is getting lost. I'm giving props for a promoter getting 3 great fights done. Not cheerleading for the success of his business plan.

But of course theres also the chance of those 2 winning as well. Which would make them even bigger names thus further helping GBP.
Matthysse just signed a reported 5-year extension with GBP back in January, so I don't know how likely it is that Postol would be his last fight, win or lose.

ur missing the point my point is the reason these promoters are going all out balls to the wall with these fights is they have to compete with haymon. u really think gbp is risking everything because they want to? these promoters like gbp and top rank are fighting for air space they are going to have to put the best of the best fights on that my point its not a division thread its just the reality that even if u hate pbc ur forgetting its making promotions like gbp better

They're fighting for "air space" on HBO because Haymon has taken SHO off the table.

I'm happy for Oscar. Props for Canelo and Matthysse for remaining loyal to De La Hoya and not jumping ship.

Even if Lemieux, Canelo or Matthyse loses, putting fighters with big names motivates them, but also sells them in the future. We need more of this.

GBP actually has made some great match ups

Looks like Oscar is a real fan of the sports and he wants to see best fights like us. Props to him.

I disagree because Top Rank is not doing that. Terrence Crawford fought nobody this year and Bradley vs Rios is a God awful fight and I'm glad HBO didn't overpay for it.

You're not 100% right or wrong. Thing is in boxing things can change on a dime. Thats probably why promoters are so careful with their fighters usually. Oscar definitely goes against the grain in that way. But anyway the thing is things can change on a dime & if Lemieux gets axed like Kirkland did his value goes down. If Matthysse gets upset his value goes down big. If Canelo loses a wide decision or gets KO'd by an older, lesser valued by the boxing community Cotto his value can drop pretty wide too. Obviously there are upsides to this, but to act like its a guarantee this is all 100% gonna work out positively for GBP is foolish or naive. With these matchups I think its almost a guarantee someones value drops which depending on how the other fights work out could make GBP a more or less impactful force in boxing.

I'd also say in GBP's current situation making big fights is probably the #1 move to make. Having his 3 biggest names fight nothing fights does nothing or even makes GBP look bad, but at least with this move he's attempting to enhance GBP's position & that could work out or could not work out, but at least the possibility is there.

I would agree boxing needs more of this, but we'll never get it as long as boxing works like it does with promoters & boxers married for long periods of time. You either need all aggressive matchmaking, pro-boxing more than pro-boxer, promoters like Oscar, which seems an unlikely situation or you need a centralized power structure in boxing that can consistently match top guys.
