Abel Sanchez, trainer for IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, says Miguel Cotto is running from facing his fighter - and he will continue to run if victorious over Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Golovkin faces IBF champion David Lemieux in a unification on October 17th at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Diva Cotto will definitely run from GGG. He's already avoiding him let alone if he wins against Alvared.

That is precisely why Canelo needs to win. Whether Canelo chooses to face GGG or Mayweather again, If he chose Mayweather, he would still eventually fight GGG.

I've always believed that K2's plan for GGG is not to earn the big money by chasing fights with "names" like Cotto and Canelo, but to turn GGG into a PPV star and a "name" in his own right.

If he beats Lemieux and then adds the WBC belt to his collection that aim will be achieved. Whether he fights Cotto or Canelo for that WBC belt won't matter, in the long term.

Not sure this is the right tactic from Sanchez in pursuing that Cotto fight. Cotto is becoming more and more controlling in recent years, everything will be on his terms and if you're gonna start accusing him of cowardice it may rub him the wrong way and you can say goodbye to the negotiations of that fight ever running smoothly.

Interesting to see how confident Golovkin's camp is though, they act like they 100% know they're winning that fight and think it'll be a starmaker.

So far, we know that WBC said they are forcing the winner of Cotto-Canelo fight to face Golovkin next... If it's Cotto he will vacate, but if it's Canelo they will try to buy him at least another year before fighting Golovkin.
