When you analyze Floyds resume and be realistic about his domination across 5 divisions for 18 yrs , his accomplishments will probably never be equaled , lots of haters and jealous people in this world , poor or rich nobody or somebody , they all reflect there own form off sour g****s .
    Good post.

I respect Hagler but he's wrong on this one, Marciano's resume is poor compared to Floyd's.

Also the heavyweight division might not have any weight limits but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to skill. There have been eras where there were a lot of talented heavies and there have been eras where there was a lack of them.

That's irrelevant, in reality a lower division fighter gets killed by a heavyweight. People decide who's the best through competition not some abstract argument about who has more skill. What Floyd has done is great but if you can't do it against everyone who competes in the sport than its not the greatest achievement.

With the physical limitations and lack of boxing skills, As well as being at the biggest division wise of weight/history... I would agree in some areas. Fact is Marciano had little Amatuer experience and was a very small man and yet did very successful in the most hystorically the most prestigious prize in sports.

While Mayweather current 48-0 is amazing, as he often puts it; he was raised in boxing, bred for boxing... Marciano wasn't and yet is the only heavyweight champ to retired undefeated... A record that most likely will never be broken.

It is irrelevant... It's more impressive though a man wnet undefeated winning the biggest title in boxing and did so will very little background experience.

Floyd was born and raised in boxing... Marciano was not and yet did what no one has done since!

Being able to beat someone just because of size is inferior to being able to beat them because you are a better boxer.

That's kind of the whole point of the sport. Seeing who can fight better not who has the bigger size advantage.

Yes but then you are only the best within that framework. Heavyweights are the best period because they can beat everyone. See the the difference? It's the whole reason p4p was invented, to give credit to lower weight fighters.

So to you Valuev is a better fighter than Roberto Duran? If that's the framework you prefer then more power to you but it seems badly flawed.

I actually think Duran could take Valuev. Valuev punched like a girl and the Panamanian legend would work the Russians nut sack like a speed bag.

Thinking a 150 pound boxer can possible be considered the greatest is flawed. It's just a different level. Heavyweight is the major league and always has been, that can't change just because there aren't a lot of good Americans participating. What someone achieves at heavyweight is just greater.
