You should win a fight for doing damage to your opponent..not running and clinching and winning rounds because you land 10 pot shots and your opponents lands 7.
This is the landscape created by Jones and Whitaker and perfected by Mayweather.

With the change in the amateur system however I think you're going to see more action fights as fighters will be thought to win fights and not just land more slaps than their opponent.

Just to get beat in the TV ratings to non ppv prelim fights
Kevin Iole reported that Rhonda will end up making around $5mil once they factor in her ppv revenue.

The number is a joke. The fight was a bigger joke. I didn't even watch it. I was out in the city and caught the last couple of UFC fights. I saw no news headlines even discussing the fight. Ronda was all over the newsfeeds.

Garcia fighting a guy who was coming off of a brutal KO... What was the point? Oh I forgot, "hardcore" boxing fans don't care about making the best fights, they are just fan boys who root for fighters.

Hardcore boxing fans: "Boxing is still number 1 look at Floyd, Pacquiao, and Canelo-Cotto, all will put up big PPV numbers."

Yah Fk boys, there are a few fights here and there... boxing must be doing well right?

Oh No! 1 Million for a Boxing Event is just absolutely TERRIBLE! Haymon should just shut down PBC now and send all of his fighters to K2, GBP and Top Rank

Scoring system needs to change: Ring Generalship = Lara running around the landing 10 pot shots and his opponent landing like 6, so that means Lara wins even though he was running the whole round and landing nothing effective...Andre Ward and Floyd clinch 10 times per round at least and get no warnings..

The scoring should be: if you are not the aggressor you have to dominate the round to win not just make it a I hit you with 10 pot shots and you only hit me with 9 powers shots..so I landed one more, so I win...

Look at Mayweather v. Pacquiao..if the referee would have warned Floyd about clinching and the judges didn't make the scoring so that Pac had to chase down and dominate Floyd to win the round..Floyd would have actually been forced to be more offensive and hence a more exciting fight..

I think Floyd and unfortunately Pac will now both take huge hits in PPV sales in their remaining fights unless they get like Triple G or the Cotto-Canelo winner..

I don't think Fk boy fan boys realize the damage done by Floyd's performance in that Pacquiao fight and how it exposed boxing as a sport where the "best" fighters are the guys who are "slick" and aren't asked to do much to win rounds..just not get hit and land pot shots..

I don't agree but not because I'm a fan boy. I look at it like this. Haymon has like $400 Million to spend. It he blows it all, and doesn't succeed (though I hope all boxing on all platforms succeed) then oh well, we still have HBO boxing and those fighters will find homes to fight on with the Networks that were doing boxing last year before PBC.

All I care about is that Haymon (or any one else) makes good matches and I get to watch. His money and the purses he gives out isn't my business I feel.

The sport has to survive and for it too survive smart decisions have to be made. Fighters need to fight more often, smaller purses, and be told to lay it all on the line before each and every fight.

No more just trying to survive, no more running down the clock. Catch the audience imagination and stop settling for getting it done.

Only Floyd fan boys care about Haymon and the purses his fighters get... which they see none of...

Haymon has been putting on trash... Danny Garcia vs. PEDerson who ran the entire fight and Paulie who basically did the same were both jokes..

Broner v. Porter was the same thing...Broner did nothing for 11 rounds and Showtime puppets were scoring it a close fight..

If you're going to put the fight on free TV that's one thing but ESPN isn't free TV and Haymon's fights PBC on CBS have been terrible..the NBC have been OK at best..Thurman v. the Ghost was OK but then in typical Al Haymon fashion he then puts Thurman in with Collazo..

Still not understanding how these fighters will ever develop into stars if they fight washed-up guys every other card?

Floyd vs. Berto on PPV... I bet every Floyd fan boy on this forum will buy the event and tell us how Floyd deserves it and the undercard is "stacked"

Ring generalship is about whose style is dominating, about who is controlling how the aciton is unfolding. The ring is large enough for a lot of movement, that is part of the sport and if the 'runner' is landing punches and preventing his opponent from landing on him then he is simply boxing well. Plenty of aggressive infighters do a lot of clinching too, not to mention falling on top of their opponents which is mainly why clinching is legal in the first place, not all clinches are the same.

The popularity, or lack thereof, of boxing in the US has nothing to do with 'slick' boxer types succeeding.

It was on there for me cause i convinced him as he says but anyway what i noticed was how hyped the crowd was for UFC.

Made me think why isnt boxing this way? And what i came up with was that boxing has no structure at all. fighters stuck with promoters that dont allow others to fight them (in-house fights), fans fighting amongst themselves about what network to watch, and these were just the big glaring problems out there. So i began thinking im happy someone is attempting to unify the sport.

Imagine one governing body with all the best fighters under one brand. It would feel like an actual sport. The same debates would continue, but more on the boxing side, as opposed to the tired ramble about promoters clashing, HBO, PBC, and the overall boxing politics that ruins the sport at times.

I make it no secret but heres hoping PBC or something similar to it succeeds. No matter who leads it.

BTW: after a few drinks i conducted an experiment and asked 10 people if they knew of 5 boxers. GGG, Garcia, Broner, Khan, Kov

Most did not know any of them. Broner most known with Khan coming in 2nd.
