Kovalev's last fight on HBO drew 1.014 million viewers and some of his obnoxious fans were crowing about what a success it was and how he was now the A-side against Andre Ward and blah blah blah.

Well, 1.073 million viewers is higher than that. So let's hear from those same fans about how this was a great number for Al Haymon and PBC.

I'm not a boxing or an MMA hardcore fan. I like combat sports and have learned to appreciate the arts. UFC is definitely pulling better cards and are developing "superstars" better than everyone in boxing. I know the UFC has more control over quality fighters but anyways their matchmaking is way better...plus you get to see more fights than a televised boxing card.

That's how much UFC paid Ronda Rousey. Meanwhile PBC just paid.

Purses: Danny Garcia $1.25M, Malignaggi $550K, Jacobs $550K, Mora $225K

Just to get beat in the TV ratings to non ppv prelim fights
lol boxers making more money is either seen as great or awful, I feel like by the same people sometime.

Rousey definitely made more then the info given. She gets a PPV cut. The UFC isn't as open as boxing with finding out what fighters are paid. Most of the big name people get PPV cuts & there are behind the scene bonuses that are openly talked about more & more often (White mentioned guys getting paid at the Rousey fight in fact during the post fight presser). The most notable of which was a $1M unmentioned (til years later anyway) bonus given to Frank Mir for his fight vs Brock Lesner.

Oh yah, we're getting all the fights we wanted... Haymon guys can only fight Haymon guys...that's great for boxing in the eyes of Floyd fan boys
Any monopoly would be good for boxing. There are too many chiefs, not enough indians in boxing. Any sport I'm aware of that doesn't have a centralized power structure suffers from a lack of competition due to the difficulty with getting powerful en****** with differing goals to agree on the goal thats best for boxing. You can love or hate Haymon, but if Haymon or anyone after him is able to achieve a NBA of Boxing ultimately it'll be great for fans & boxing history alike.

              Exactly.

These numbers seem like good numbers in comparison with FNF shows previously shown on ESPN2. Not sure how many more people got ESPN vs ESPN2, but if these 800k-1M viewer numbers (range of the first 2 shows) are with one sided matchups on ESPN & ESPN2 had about 400k viewers (avg in 2014), they are doing alright it would seem.

Idk why people are comparing Boxing to Price is Right & Cops. Hockey woulda been off the air a long ass time ago if they were comparing Cops & Hockey. Hockey gots a $200M/year deal & outside of the playoffs the ratings are comparable or not that much higher (1.5M viewers) than some of these boxing cards.

I think some people are severely overestimating what you need to get a ****load of money TV deal in this 1000+ channel, streaming, youtube, twitch, periscope, etc. world we live in.

Yeah, Kovalev (Russian) fought a bum from France, who is completely unknown and whose name cant be pronounced, and Garcia (American born Puerto-rican) fought an american bum with a big name and big fanbase in America. Do you feel the difference?
