Looking for fights that u know are on is different than advertising it to the casuals and massses who don't know there's a fight on a channel like spike, ESPN or BounceTV. Many casuals just aren't aware that these fights are even taking place.
Now say a casual viewer is home channel surfing and comes across a fight one night on nbc. He may think that he can tune into nbc to catch these fights in the future. Nope because the next card may be on one of the other 6 networks on different day/time. Many of these casual don't even know nor do they care what promotion is behind it. They just want to see an action packed fight.Comment

You people are unreal. You spend hours a day on NSB, posting on like five threads at a time, yet you can't go to the PBC website to see what the upcoming fights are? Does that make even the slightest bit of sense?Comment

The difference is Haymon doesn't have a network deal so he has to do time buys. I am sure if he got a network deal he would do what you suggest. All you guys are talking about how easy it is to find fights... If it's so easy why is no one watching? Because the matchmaking sucks on top of that. And yet this whole website is not the audience PBC is trying to get to watch. Boxing fans will find boxing, it's not rocket science. I don't know when the next MMA card is, that's why they do commercials. MMAJunkie42069 knows this **** so he wouldn't be who the commercial was for.
You don't gain NEW fans/audience/clients by moving around your clothing store/TV show. I keeps seeing Dunn say NBA, MLB, NFL... Yeah, we get it they are different channels Dunn. They also get 3-100x's the ratings boxing gets and they are on ESPN ALL the time. There is literally a 24/7 sports network (5 of them at least) that tell you all about the NBA and NFL.
These ratings are also from home teams having their home fans watch. Those teams have been around for 50-100 years on some cases... Boxing doesn't have that loyalty to any fighter. Boxing is a sport but it's nothing like the other sports, the comparison to a TV show is more valid than a sporting event. But again this is only part of the equation, better matchmaking would lead to better ratings as well. I mean how do you really get people to tune in, as casuals to a 30-0 versus a fighter is 33-7 or whatever Paulie was, no one is watching that.
Time buys means he has to find spots where networks have openings. So at this stage it seems moving around is all he can do. As such, IMO he needs to improve advertising and promotion.
Boxing is still a sport, its based on winning and losing. There is a fixed time limit. To compare it to non sports is utterly ridiculous.Comment

I made this point yesterday and in an earlier post.
I got to watch GREAT fights on Tuesdays. Great young fighters-roy, Floyd, bhop. You I know liked it because they gave you shows from the Blue Horizon featuring philly guys bhop, calvin grove etc.
I just don't see the downside to this.Comment

PBC has an agreement with several channels. AL could have cross-channel advertising, ie a commercial on ESPN about an upcoming fight on NBC and vice versa.True... but like Dunn said in an earlier post... nowadays is so much easier to find what you're looking for you know with the cell phones, laptops, tablets etc...
IMO they can do some kind of message reminders/phone messages something like that so people can sign up for it.
Advertising is part of the cost of doing business. Simply having a product without sufficient advertising is pointless, because many will not even know about it. Remember, I'm talking about casuals, who by definition will not go out of their way to find something that they are only moderately interested in. If Al wants to appeal to the casuals, he'll have to go get them.Comment
