You can't put something on freaking CBS, on primetime with 5 weeks notice, no marketing, and no commercials sold.

You need a long lead time to sell commercials. That time slot is already sold to something else, and the commercial space sold.

It's just going to be some bullshlt PPV fight very few will watch and we'll never get the real numbers of course.

well in reality that time slot on saturday nights isnt in that big of a demand. whatever reruns theyre showing can be cancelled.

Maybe but there's obviously something going on behind the scenes for this fight not to have been made official by now.

Mayweather is clearly just looking to collect his last Check with CBS/Showtime...then once he is a Free Agent that open up a lot of possibilities if he choose to continue to fight. Maybe he fights Cotto if he beats Canelo, maybe they do Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 without the Network Drama this time around

I don't think he cares about anything for this fight, his last fight shattered every record possible so I think he could careless what type of numbers this fight does if they even put it on PPV

            But clearly it is Berto!

Like I said before.. Its up to Mayweather, what he wants to do. Regardless of how he acts, Il still be tuning in and so will a whole lot of other fans, whether he announces it 5 weeks before fight night or 5 hours.

My only problem is that he's indirectly affecting the other fighters out there who are all treading on egg shells and running through hoops just to get this fightl I know its not Floyd's fault all these guys wana fight him but at the same time, its making a mockery of the welterweight division. Should one boxer have a control over a division, like this?

                ^^^ this right here

um, did some of y'all miss the deal that Floyd had with MGM Grand and Showtime/CBS? Three years, six fights, May and September. Hasn't changed.

This fight is happening, folks...It just doesn't have the publicity because there really isn't much needed. The Canelo, Maidana, and Pac fights already made the money needed.

One fight is already signed for that date (Jack vs. Groves) and another one is most likely going to be on there as well (K9 vs. Charlo). All that is needed is the main event and everything else will fall into place.
Which is likely why Virgil publicly apologised when Berto's chef talked about the Mayweather fight and preparing him for it.

Who knows I just want to know what's going on now.

                    Push it back to when?

September 12th (Mexican independence day) is one of the biggest weekends for Boxing. No way he pushes it back, IMO.

                    We will soon find out.
To the opening of the new MGM arena, around May.

Doesn't matter if Sat night is in big demand or not. And Sat night gets decent numbers.

Theoritically they MIGHT be able to cancel what they are showing. It may not be reruns, and that would make it completely impossible, contracts are already in place.

And practically it's absolutely not possible to sell commercial space for a prime time event on Sat night a month away. And if you are not getting ad money, what is the point? No way is it going to be on CBS.

It's a ppv show. Or it just might, perhaps be on Sho but not PPV. Even that seems incredibly unlikely.
