Ok now of find where I said berto was more qualifies for a floyd fight. I don't even care about a floyd fight. None of them deserve one. The person that did, manny got one. Floyd is retiring. Let him go and let these guys fight each other and the best guy will come out on top. Boxing doesn't end with Floyd yet everyone acts like it does.Comment

I kind of agree, but the blame should be laid solely at the feet of the fighters.
These are the opponents of the top 5 welters heading toward September.....
Chris Algieri, Frankie Gavin, Luis Collazo, Adrien Broner, Jessie Vargas.
Brook/Thurman/khan/Porter/Bradley, need to fight Brook/Thurman/khan/Porter/Bradley...... otherwise, it is most definitely their fault.
I'm not completely sure. But personally, I think most people that don't have a problem with Floyd-Berto are folks that have basically already dismissed Floyd as an active and relevant fighter. If you're a fan of his, you'll watch his lil victory lap in Sept and be done with him. But he isn't relevant to anything that's happening now, or in the future in the sport of boxing. Wish these fighters would do the same. May generate some better match-ups because everyone won't be angling for a Floyd fight.Comment

[QUOTE=JRB123;15934146]I wonder if people can help me with this question:
Where was Luis Collazo ranked in the WBA when he fought Keith Thurman?QUOTE]in the top 15. You will never believe where Berto is ranked. When you are ready for a laugh, check out the WBA rankings. Berto is ranked higher than Guerrero who beat him, Jose Luis who knocked him out, higher than Maidana, Porter, and others.Last edited by richardt; 08-03-2015, 12:35 AM.Comment

I'm mainly asking this because of what Thurman said...Comment

It's funny, I was thinking the same thing after the Spence fight.
I also find it funny how every time someone calls out Floyd, some people on here go "he doesn't deserve it" and never mention any other boxer who do. Every time when a boxer calls out Floyd, his fans come up with excuses for why they should fight him. It's ridiculous.
At this point, Thurman does deserve a shot. I really don't get why people think he has to jump through these extra hoops to fight a guy who has looked pretty average in his last three fights anyway.
lol Then he should fight someone ABOVE welterweight...like Triple G.Last edited by Mr. Punch-Out!!; 08-03-2015, 12:04 PM.Comment

NOBODY has come even close to EARNING a Mayweather fight.
I dont care if Thurman is the best of a bad bunch, arguing that he deserves a Mayweather payday is weak. Picking the best welter from the current crop is a turd polishing contest.
It is pointless to argue one underwhelming resume' against another.... nobody made the effort to sign two good back-to-back fights heading toward September. Nobody wanted it, so why give one of those guys a payday by default when clearly nobody did what they had to do to earn that fight?
He may as well to be honest, there is a massive gulf between Mayweather and the next best welter. Having two divisions on lock does give Mayweather some options, and personally I would prefer Lara/Cotto/GGG, in that order.
All are better than Thurman, who would simply be outclassed.
It doesn't matter if Mayweather would beat those three fighters, because he will sure as hell beat Thurman thats for sure. Not interested in watching an undeserving contender get outclassed
One-Time, is not enough.
Two good back-to-back wins is not a huge ask from an apparent worldbeater.Comment

It appears that Berto is a retirement fight, on free TV.
If so, how could you have a problem with that ?
If on PPV, then Berto is an absurd opponent for Mayweather..... but if free, simply as a retirement send-off..... then no problem.
But if Mayweather is selecting the best available opponent - which he obviously is not - then how the fcuk could be pick Thurman?
There are 3 guys at 154 who would provide a much better challenge than Thurman..... and 4 guys at welter who have done nothing, exactly like Thurman.
Thurman is in the middle of the pack, and nothing more.
Keith " stepped up to the world stage One-Time " ThurmanComment

Keith " only fought a top guy One-Time " Thurman
Maybe he should remove the pawns before going for the king.
I don't know why Thurman is acting with such incredulity; you would almost think he has done something wonderful with his career. He's not Mayweather or Pacquiao, he is not Cotto or Bradley, he is not Canelo or Garcia. He is a fighter who is at the bottom of the list; if Mayweather Jr. is to be criticised for not taking on a challenging fight, it isn't because he didn't fight Keith Sometimes Thurman.
If Mayweather is selecting a look-good retirement opponent, then Berto is fine.
But if Mayweather is selecting a challenge, then it wont be Thurman.Comment

Read. I didn't say you said Berto was more qualified, I said Berto wasn't more qualified and I said is Thurman is qualified as a top contender for the shot. And as long as fighters can get multi-millions fighting Floyd, Boxing begins and ends with Floyd. Anyone criticizing Thurman for wanting a fight would do the exact same thing if they were in his shoes and wanting to win that lottery.
Mayweather is selecting a retirement opponent, in Berto.
If Mayweather decides to select a challenge, it wont be Thurman thats for sure.
Lara/Cotto/Canelo/Golovkin at 154, and Bradley/Pacquiao/Khan/Brook at 147 are all bigger and better fights than Thurman.
Tell me how Thurman would " challenge " Mayweather ?
Tell me why Keith " only stepped up One-Time " Thurman is deserving?..... especially over Bradley and Khan.Comment
