No he can't just fight who he wants to and then ride off into the sunset....being the so called best you take on the best in the world....berto is not one of them......what right does mayweather have to start match making a protege his scapegoat......mayweather could face either brook...khan....porter...thurman...before spence because they have earned more of a shot.....that's fine for mayweather to retire but don't try and stat dictating who fights who....he is not a sanctioning bodie or a matchmaker........so he should either **** off and retire or face a more deserving fighter than berto.....him haymon are poisoning this noble sport and it hope he retires because mayweather brings nothing to this sport except bad ethics

Floyd is already the greatest fighter of this generation. At this point, he could fight your grandfather for all I care cause he's fought and beat the best already........ Yeah, Floyd doesn't bring anything to the sport yet he's apart of three of the top grossing ppv's of all time. You sound dumb af. Those guys that you mentioned haven't done anything but tippy toes around each other because they're afraid to lose a chance to fight Floyd and you are dumb af if you don't think Floyd knows this. Floyd has taken the risk fight in and fight out yet none of those boys you named want to mix it up with each other to earn their shot. Khan especialy because he could have been had the Floyd fight if he would've fought either Alexander or Brook.

Thurman has done nothing to generate any real interest in a Mayweather fight.

        Thurman would be a cherry-pick.

I would probably prefer Thurman over Berto, but neither can beat Mayweather, and Berto will likely offer a better fight. I wouldn't pay to watch either of them.

Thurman can fight anyone he wants after Mayweather hangs up his gloves but he wants the lottery like the rest of everyone on earth who is not a multi-millionaire. That's my point. And when someone says he has to earn it as if Guerrero and Berto and others did, that's a laugh. Its about luck and timing.
They were coming off defining fights, and were well-ranked.

Part of the blame should go to the fighters too though.
I kind of agree, but the blame should be laid solely at the feet of the fighters.

These are the opponents of the top 5 welters heading toward September.....

Chris Algieri, Frankie Gavin, Luis Collazo, Adrien Broner, Jessie Vargas.

Brook/Thurman/khan/Porter/Bradley, need to fight Brook/Thurman/khan/Porter/Bradley...... otherwise, it is most definitely their fault.

What does " earned more of a shot " mean ?

They have done absolutely nothing to deserve a Mayweather payday.

They have intentionally avoided risky fights, all of them.

You say Mayweather is this big star, so he must select a big opponent.....

Well, when the current welters become a big opponent, they will get a call.

              Lara is the most deserving.

In any poll, Thurman would be a top 3 to get the shot, that's the bottom line. It's not like there is 10 or even 5 other fighters that would qualify over him.

That's freaking disgusting, smdh.....yet you have dumbasses coming for Floyd's head for choosing berto for his damn farewell fight.

Not Berto, that's my point. And my point goes back to anyone that is okay with Berto but not okay with Thurman getting a shot. That's the only assertion I've made here.

                      1) poll? Mayweathers opponents are not determined by poll

                      2) who cares what silly casual fans think

                      3) the fact that you admit there could be 5 fighters who are more qualified proves my point

                      4) being the most deserving welter, when not one welter has made an effort to sign two good back-to-back opponents..... means absolutely nothing, and will not land you a Mayweather payday, and nor should it

Thurman is just another welter, who has done little of note recently.
