Not a terrible stoppage, I guess, but when a fighter goes down and you give him a count and he beats it, then you're supposed to 1)have him walk to you and then 2) ask him if he's ok, and THEN decide to stop it. Or else, why give him a count? Sergei was up and fairly steady at 9 and probably could have continued, judging from how well he fought hurt against Brewster.
You obviously haven't seen this fight. His head was getting punished like it was on a swivel for many of the previous rounds.

There was nothing wrong with that stoppage.

I have indeed seen the fight. I remember it being fairly close, and Sergei taking a beating against the ropes a few times, just like he took in the Brewster fight, and kept coming back. I didn't say it was a bad stoppage, if you try reading, but I don't like the way the ref waves it off when he stands up clean at 9. I just don't like that procedure. Tyson would have beaten Douglas if that was correct procedure, son. I've seen fighters allowed to continue in infinitely worse shape than Sergei was there.

          Because A beat B and C beat A.......that means that C beats B.

          I'm not buying it.
Ex -ufcking -actly, and in the heavy division one punch can be all she wrote no matter who's in there.

There's been tons of fights with worse stoppages. He was taking a beating in that round, and he was up at 9. There's guys up much sooner that have been stopped many a time.

There was nothing wrong with the procedure, or the stoppage.

If you're looking for movement.....Mo Harris is your guy. That's his fight. He's a boxer first and can be pretty slick at times...untill he gets caught and finished.

I was more referring to the way he took the fight to Liakahovic and normally...would have stayed in the center of the ring where he likes it best....especially when Sergei was hurt. He's an ultra cautious fighter that Harris is.

Anyone remember how BRUTAL the chopping shot to the back of the neck that Oquendo used to "KO" Harris?

It wasn't even a punch. That was a horrible foul and Oquendo got a KO win as a result.

I never saw that fight and only read about the results.

                  Do you have for upload?

I've got it somewhere. If I come across it I'll try and make a gif of the stoppage. It wasn't really worth watching, it was dull and sloppy, but the foul was just brutal.

Harris was bending over looking at his feet, and Oquendo, with the inside of his glove open haneded (think Van Dam crushing the bricks in blood sport) just chopped downward on the back of Harris' neck. Not even the back of the head, the neck. Harris crumbled to the mat and they waived it off and gave it to Fres via KO.

He was probably winning at that point anyway, but it was just brutal to see that bad of a foul.

yeah that was ****ed up, thats one of those things where i think if i was working that guys corner i would have killed someone that night.

that should have been a DQ no questions asked, harris was winning the fight and oquendo went on to a title shot, harris has been pretty much retired since. what made it even more strange was the fact it was on a big time card and it was joe cortez who blew it.
