PBC sucks, is terrible for boxing and I hope it implodes under the weight of it's own

If it were that simple nobody would hate it, it would just be something to watch without expecting much like Friday Night Fights. Nobody argues about what race or religion the guy who runs Friday night Fights is... Nobody cares, it was just free boxing.
It's the ******uous roster and haymon politics preventing so many fights with outsiders that gets old quick. PBC has had a couple "OK" fights but never enough to compensate for the fights Haymon has rendered impossible or paid his fighters to turn down. PBC is supposed to make up for a lot.Last edited by ////; 07-31-2015, 08:50 AM.Comment

The best thing about the Haymon cheerleaders is how they talk all this shit about how powerful Al is, and how every other promoter is being killed off. And then they turn around and in the next sentence claim that the very same dude is too weak to give us this fight or that fight, and that it's not his fault.
And we're not talking Oscar-Trinidad level match-ups here. We're talking middle of the road contenders and the all-powerful Al Haymon is apparently in no position to make them fight each other. It's incredible. How do they swallow this shit?
And then these same fanboys cry about no one else getting the same criticism Al does for killing fights. Do these guys not have memories that go back more than 2 years? Arum was getting killed for years by fans for standing in the way of fights we wanted and often killing them.
They are the ones who've pulled a complete u-turn and suddenly don't want those same standards applied to Haymon. Let's face it these ******* are a lost cause, and are too obsessed with one man and everyone connected to him to ever really give a shit about the sport itself. Thank god they're a minority.Comment

PBC is doing fine, but who knows how long it'll last with its current formula. PBC has to step up its match-up quality and I assume that will happen as the brand grows.
Fights/match-ups I liked on some level:
Thurman/Ghost, Berto/Lopez, Garcia/Peterson, Lee/Quillin, Kameda/Mcdonnell, Dirrell/DeGale, Broner/Porter, Vasqeuz/Omotoso, Arreola/Harper, Frampton/Gonzalez.Last edited by kiaba360; 07-31-2015, 09:05 AM.Comment

You also don't see fans post things like-"I only watch games on CBS and not NFL Network because the production is worse" or " I hope sunday night football on NBC fails so we can go back to games only on Sunday afternoon on Fox".Comment

I'd rather see mismatches on free TV than on HBO, which has put on some horrible fights as well.Comment

One of PBC's biggest problems is building stars. They have none. The closest thing they have to a "star" is Garcia, Thurman and Khan, and I dont see either of them breaking thru to the type of star Floyd, Pac, Oscar, Canelo, Cotto is.
The biggest issue in my opinion is one of the reasons why their ratings keep diving. There's no consistency with their shows. They fight on a plethora of networks, on different days of the week and at different times. I can barely keep up with it and I doubt the average casual fan can. Would have been smarter to obtain his own tv network just for his shows. This way he can have a solid foundation and fans across the board will now where to tune in to catch these fights. Have a specific time and day of the week and establish it. With HBO, we know that if there's a fight on, its more than likely taking place on a Sat night around 9-10pm ET. Same with Showtime. PBC is just all over the place and has no structure.
Lastly, the PBC brand needs a face. You think of GBP you automatically think of Oscar Delahoya. Same for TR and Bob Arum. You think of UFC you think of Dana White. PBC has no name/brand recognition because there's no face behind it. This is where Haymon should have used Floyd. Floyd while hated is known and could have done wonders for helping build the PBC brand.Comment

I don't see posters opining that " I want top rank on SPike TV to fail because the fights suck" or "Arum and HBO giving us mismatches is killing the sport" or "Arum making in house fights is killing the sport" or "arum has a monopoly on HBO and monopolies are not good for the sport."
Do these arguments make sense to you?
People that do not like Arum for whatever reason never suggest he should put less programming on TV when the quality is not good. The argument is made for improved programming, not elimination of it.
Why are the opinions regarding Haymon so extreme?Comment

Bitter b*tches. What boxing fan complains that there is more boxing on TV? Like every fight is supposed to be Corrales-Castillo or some ****.
BTW PBC is five months old and there actually have been quite a few entertaining fights. Curious to see how this all plays out.Comment
