I think if you are worried about getting into street fights or just want to know how to handle yourself, you should learn some other disciplines. I used to only do boxing, but over the last few years I started training in Judo. I don't really get into many fights, but if I did, I would feel naked only knowing boxing.
I wonder if GGG feels naked only knowing boxing...

Probably not, but he might be slightly better than me at it.

Without boxing you don't have a chance in a street fight! The first thing people do when they engage in a fight is go into a their Boxing Stance.

The Average trained boxer will destroy the Average person in the streets who are not trained in boxing. As for the MMA Stuff, I don't know where some of you guys live but for the most part Street Fights are hand to hand combat 99.9% of the time which a few guys who like to go for take downs but they know they can't fight.

Big fan of MMA but it won't be any time to pull out Arm Bars and Choke Holds in a Street Fight. Again we're talking about a Street Fight in which anything goes. I would much rather stay on my feet in a street fight, GOD forbid somebody pulls out a gun or a knife, last place on want to be is on the ground having some guy in a choke hold and his friend pull out a gun and start shooting because his guy is being choked out

The Average person and to be honest I don't think many of the MMA fighters would be able to land a clean punch on a well trained boxer.

Good post. I agree with the premise that you don't want to be rolling around on the ground when your opponent pulls out a blade like Baby Powder in Friday.

I've had the experience of fighting for my life with a knife in the army and let me tell you, that scene from Saving Private Ryan, you don't want to go out that way.

In a boxers stance you can use your lead hand to block, parry, or grab the hand with a blade in it, or keep it real gutter and wrap a tshirt around your arm if you have time, like you're on the yard.

              Yes...

I destroyed a so-called tough neighborhood goon last year without even breaking a sweat.

Goes without saying ANY training > None (Unless there is a crazy size difference or something).

Anyway, boxing is useful in a street fight. Just knowing how to punch properly can result in you knocking out the average Joe the moment an opportunity presents itself.
We had our fantasy draft at this bar/pub last year and this one dude kept trying to come back into the reserved area because he was drunk and he was running his mouth at us because he wasn't allowed back there. Some of the guys yelled stuff back and he ended up throwing food in our direction which didn't go over too well. I went up to him and told him to get the hell out before we got security to toss him and the guy tried to shove me. I told him that there was no need for that and it wold be better if he just left.

He tried to shove me again and I kind of flipped on him a lil bit. Hit him with a right hook and threw him in a headlock with my left hand. I started to hit him with right uppercuts as he struggled and I think I landed 10-15 before he slipped out of the headlock. When he went to go stand up all the way, I landed a straight right on his chin and he fell backwards to the floor.

One of my friends grabbed me and was like "Man, we don't need this crap, just leave him and we'll call security." That was the first time I had to punch at someone in years.

Being able to throw a punch properly is kinda useful when you're trying to punch someone.
