I think i can hold my own against most people but i know a pro boxer or MMA fighter is going to smash me to pieces. That said, if an MMA guy did take me down, i'd try to bite the hell out of him and not let go if anything goes but i'd still be well beaten. If a pro boxer lands one on anyones chin on this forum, it'd be goodnight.

These guys are trained fighters, it shouldn't be underestimated how dangerous they are to the average man.
Amir Khan would body cats in a bar fight.

I have a good friend who always gets loud after 2 beers. Shht he gets loud without beer.

He has taken bjj for about 4 years
And wrestled his whole life .

Even took some all around mma classes with lersonal training for a yr

Never wanted to do boxing with thewhole ufc emergence. He is built well and in good shape but cant throw hands to save his life. Gets instreet fights at least once a month. He has to be 3-25 literally.. he always gets dropped .he alwys bleeds from the face..

Street fight is a typically a term used by by douche bag wanna be tough guys. My hunch is that once fists start flying legit boxing skills are going to be rather useful. Most tough guys "street fighters" don't know jack squat about throwing a good punch and if the fight ends on in a clinch they are equally clueless with grappling skills. That being said, if a someone with boxing skills end up in a clinch with someone with grappling skills... they might get rag dolled.

In my experience the douche's that say street fight really mean... "I will sucker punch you and then hit you with a bottle."

Drag your boy to a boxing gym so he can learn to throw hands.

I know people like that too but 9/10, they admit to me in the end that they don't want to get hit, and its true - i've done some grappling before when I was in the army and sure, you can submit and even break someone's arm or other extremity, but it's just not as violent, not as brutal as getting punched, it just isn't. The majority of the time you are working on the ground there is minimal contact. As much as people try and say they are similar, equal, or mma is more brutal, then why are so many supposedly passionate mma fans and practicioners so eager to roll on the ground but so reluctant to depend on strikes?

This is why I still consider boxing the more savage and violent sport.

I know a guy who practiced BJJ 5 days a week but was scared to spar me once. What's the point of doing mma if you are scared to get hit, if they are both combat sports and boxing is supposed to be inferior according to some mma fans?

I'd say 70% of fights are initiated by an untrained person who will go to throw a telegraphed right hand/overhand right...then throw it again & again.

Good luck to that 70% if they come up against anyone who knows even has a basic training in boxing.

Boxing goes beyond "SPORT" boxing...it is a fighting art/martial art in itself....MOST ppl in bar fights throw haye makers /wild swings while intoxicated so yea even if you are not good at actuall BOXING,it helps to know how to defend against hooks ,because that is what will most likely be heading your way in a scuffle or confrontation....FEW ppl in bar fights actually know how to fight b/c good fighters or pros don't GENERALLY fight in bar fights...I say Generally b/c ive bounced a awhile and met all types of knuckle heads who THINK they can fight because they "BOXED" before or hit a Heavy bag....it always don't work out that way.

Im more MMa/martial arts myself,it would be foolish not to learn how to use or defend a jab or the basic boxing skills ,this is a big mistake most MMA guys make and even traditional martial artists and these guys/kids are usually the ones who have never been in an actual fight outside the ring or cage.
