you not gonna box a dude in a bar, you lay hands on em but if you know how to box you will be able to land at will pretty much against a drunk.

I been boxing since I was 8 and I have never straight up boxed a dude in a street fight lol, I go hulk smash on em but the boxings allow me to do that.

When they are stepping away to clear of the lock, I land a quick straight right to help them take a seat on the floor. When they try to get up, a kick to the side of the head usually does the trick. Ordering more beer from the bar is next up on my list.
Nice piece of fiction you have going there. Someone wouldn't break free from a headlock after 15-20 uppercuts.

Anyway, boxing is useful in a street fight. Just knowing how to punch properly can result in you knocking out the average Joe the moment an opportunity presents itself.

It's one of the only useful disciplines in a bar fight. You don't want to take a guy to the ground where people can have a clear shot at your head, ribs, etc. Even if the guy has no friends, you don't know when an observer is going to jump in.

Yeah, I think MMA gives people are false perception of what a fight is like. You have people thinking that it is close to the real thing because you can do more than just punch when the conditions (smooth surface, cage, rules against kneeing a grounded opponent and punching down on the back of their head) facilitate much of the combat.

Outsiders getting involved is not the only reason I would not advise someone to bring a street fight to the ground. You don't want to be wrestling around on a concrete surface. You don't want to miss a take down and get kneed in the skull or rabbit punches. You don't want to have someone so close to you, you cannot react to them pulling out a knife.

street fight, most definitely. bar fight, maybe or maybe not, so many things can go wrong there since all kinds of things that can be used as a weapon are within reach.

I think you know exactly what I am saying Larry. Your telling me.... your telling me if you get in it with some guy at the bar and things turn for the worst, that running around, holding, and doing everything in your physical power that you can muster to avoid any sort of altercation is accepted when you are in a "fight". A ring is one thing and misconstruing the tenants of boxing inside the ring to say that it isn't a "fight" and all about not getting hit is another thing, but using that same logic to someone you are trying to fight doesn't work.
