at 175 ward would be giving up too many physical disadvantages and kovalev is more than just a powerhouse. I cant see how ward could hold him off for 12 rounds without getting hurt badly. hes just too small

I could see Sergey make some noise at cruiser weight in a few years. Nobody beats him at 175 atm.

I think Pascal has some decent power but I don't consider him a heavy hitter. I think guys like Stevenson or Beterbiev have power to test Kovalev.

Ward has the best chance. He is the only one that I would consider picking to win.

The only one who I'd give even a slight chance of beating him is Artur, and that'd just because of a punchers chance. I'm 90% that kovalev ouyboxes him early, takes him into deep waters and finishes him late. Stevenson is a one handed puncher and only knows 1 combo which is jab, jab, big left hand. Kovalev counters the right jab and finishes him inside of 8. Ward is an interesting case because he wouldn't be able to manhandle kovalev on the inside, and would probably be ragdolled if he tried to clinch. All that would be left for ward is to survive until the 12 round, and hope that he doesn't get hit with something big. I honestly see kovalev catching ward to the body, and putting him down.

Based on what? Being inactive for over a year and looking good against a guy he was supposed to look good against? Not to mention fighting at 168 for majority of his career. Kovalev is dropping world class 175 pound fighters. What makes you think Ward won't suffer the same fate? Yeah, he's a good boxer but he's never faced someone like Kovalev.

Right now at 175 I think the most likely is Artur Beterbiev. I think Stevenson's chances are being severely underrated also, but I'd favor Kovalev vs him. So its either a dethroning by Beterbiev (#1 option) or Stevenson (#2 option) at 175 or I think one of the elite 200lbers beats him (#3 option) if he moves up in the next couple years or less.
