He already proved he can sustain a high work rate for 12 rounds. Granted it was against Hopkins but Kovalev never gassed himself out and looked good. Ward is a different animal but at least we know Kovalev can box methodically and go some rounds.

Ward in all likelihood has the best shot. Stellar boxing skills (just wish he fought more so we could see them. Kovalev has that killer in him and he enjoys punishing opponents. This should be a great fight. You know "The Krusher" ain't giving up so Ward will have to win on points.

Ward, Stevenson, and Beterbiev are the only competition he has at LHW.

I think he outboxes Stevenson and Beterbiev, possibly stops them, and kills Ward.

Right now, Ward. But real soon, guys like Mekhontsev, Bivol, Gvozdyk, Beterbiev etc are gonna be up his ass and they can all beat him.

I don't see anyone beating Kovalev for the next few years; maybe much longer.

The obvious prospects are Ward, Benevidas and Beterbiev, but I don't see it happening.

Ward beats him and beats him easy.

AS SOON as Golovkin kills Canelo, we going after floyd and THEN DIRECTLY after Kovalev.

I think he will either have to move to cruiser or get old over night. Ward has a shot, he is definitely not a walk over but I think it will take a perfect fight to do it. Kovalev is a nasty, mean mfer and he likes to hurt his opponent which is kind of chilling considering he killed a guy already. Something like that usually cools the fire a little, I think it might have stoked the flame in this instance.

Beterbiev looks good but its early and the Glovsky guy (Im sure I butchered his name) seems to be heading to the same or close to it level of Kovalev but again, its early.
