Cotto/Canelo winner should fight GGG at 155 and there should be no complaints

You guys are morons if you think Canelo is smaller than Golovkin.

He cuts just as much water weight to make a lower division than Golovkin. If Canelo wins, there is no reason for him to fight at 155 because he's already the same weight class as Golovkin.

One day a lineal champ will pull a trick like that to avoid a mandatory challenger, and fans will realise how bull**** the Ring magazine's lineal titles actually are.

Without one of the alphabet belts - which a champion can be forced to defend against a top rated challenger or be stripped, tied in with it - a lineal title really is meaningless.

I wouldn't have a problem with the lineage being broken if everyone @160 could actually fight each other. Quillin/Jacobs vs. GGG will simply not happen in the current climate, which prevents a true lineage from being formed.

GGG is in a desperate situation, and I expect Canelo/Cotto to take advantage of every trick they can. Cotto's catchweights have gotten closer and closer to 154, and Canelo is the 155lb champion. In this situation, we're going to see if GGG really wants the belt or the fighter attached to the belt.

Sorry 155 is super welter +1...............Middleweight Titles are held at 160!!

Time for all fans to grow up some and recognize the weight limits especially
in title situations. Why should the Middleweight Title be contested at 155?
                Thats BS!!

GGG vs Ward = Special Attraction fight between two guys are aren't even in the same division. 164 is a fair weight.

So yeah your thread has zero merit.

i suspect that he may have to go down to 158 lbs. anything below that would be unreasonable considering that the winner of cotto-canelo will actually be a middleweight champion. but i think it's worth it to concede on a couple of pounds if that's what it takes to force them into the ring. hopefully alvarez wins though because cotto is turning into an absolute nightmare to negotiate with

Please, let the middleweight world title fights return to being fought at a weight limit of 160 pounds. That is the correct, traditional and legal weight limit for middleweight world title fights for over 100 years until Martinez and Cotto started changing the weight limit for various reasons. Robinson, Griffith and Basilio were all welterweights and yet they always defended their middleweight crown at 160. I think Canelo will beat Cotto. I have faith in Canelo to do the right thing and fight GGG next at the proper 160 pounds. A side is good for negotiating what the fighter gets paid and where the fight takes place. The weight limit for a world middleweight title fight should ALWAYS be 160 pounds regardless of who is the A side. If the champion can't handle fighting men who weigh in at 160 pounds then they should give up their 160 pound title and return to a weight class they are comfortable fighting in.
