If Cotto/Canelo drop the WBC belt the winner would still be lineal middlweight champ and there's no org to force a mandatory.

Being that GGG would be the mandatory I think whoever would have to pay GGG a extra mill or an extra something to get him to agree to 155 since there would be no reason for GGG to fight at that weight otherwise outside of risking the fight, but yea I don't disagree. If GGG ultimately agrees to it, GGG & fans have no real reason to complain. Not gonna stop the *****ing cuz people love to ***** but in an ideal world there shouldn't be any if all sides are in agreement.

GGG is the mandatory challenger for the WBC belt, and the champion can't impose a CW in a mandatory defence.

Whether he is the A side or not makes no difference.
Basically, and if the winner of cotto-canelo wants to implement a catchweights for the lineal title, and the negotiations fall apart, they immediately get stripped, and ggg gets promoted to full lineal champ. Not my words, they're those of sulaiman.

By next year Alvarez won't be able to make 155, he already to tried to make the Cotto fight at 156. For a mega-fight I don't think Golovkin will have any issue coming down to face Alvarez after Canelo beats Cotto a couple times. Golovkin offered to fight Rosado at 158 without Rosado ever asking for a CW.

The WBC title has nothing to do with being lineal.

Even though this is a troll thread, I'll respond.

Being ok with Cotto/Canelo requesting a 155 CW for Golovkin because they would be the A-side and Golovkin has offered to fight Mayweather at 154 would be a lot like being ok with Golovkin requesting a 161 CW for Ward because he's the A-side and Ward has offered to fight Mayweather at 160. Sounds like a dumb thing to be ok with right? Because it is.

Cotto I give a bit of a break to because he is clearly small for 160. 155 is buggin, but a catchweight isn't completely unacceptable for him. Canelo is >170 fight night, and is almost Golovkin's height. I'd hope he'd be able to move up to 160, but I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to push like 157 on 3G.
