You know thats already being discussed by both Canelo and Cotto. GGG will just have to fall in line

So yeah your thread has zero merit.
The difference is GGG said he'd beat anyone from 154-168, not 164. Cotto didn't go around saying he'd beat every MW in the world, in fact, he just said he isn't a MW.

Also the title being on the line has nothing to do with being the A or B side. GGG wants to use catchweights, he can't complain when someone asks for one to face him whether they are in the same division or not.

It's really quite simple you are either okay with CW's or you're not. You can't pick and choose when it's okay to use one... then again you have Manny in your avatar, I wouldn't expect you to understand.

Robinson, Griffith and Basilio were all welterweights and yet they always defended their middleweight crown at 160. I think Canelo will beat Cotto. I have faith in Canelo to do the right thing and fight GGG next at the proper 160 pounds. A side is good for negotiating what the fighter gets paid and where the fight takes place. The weight limit for a world middleweight title fight should ALWAYS be 160 pounds regardless of who is the A side. If the champion can't handle fighting men who weigh in at 160 pounds then they should give up their 160 pound title and return to a weight class they are comfortable fighting in.
Uh... Hopkins/DLH fought for that title at 156 before Cotto and Marintez ever touched that belt. So... try again.

Whether he is the A side or not makes no difference.
The challenger did in the Cotto/Pacquiao situation. You think the WBC isn't just as greedy?

I agree that too big a deal is made over being the lineal champ. Cotto never beat a fighter allowed to weigh 160 pounds. He fought Martinez at 159 and then Geale at 157 and Canelo is next at 155. Most fans consider GGG the best middleweight in the world but lineal champs Martinez and Cotto has consistently refused to fight him. When the best middleweight in the world and the lineal middleweight champ are not the same man then how important is the lineal title? If the lineal champion refuses to act like a champion then they should no longer be a champion.
