In modern boxing you definitely become the A side because your popular. It's all about numbers and viwership and sadly not about resumes. If you want to compare resumes...yes no doubt Ward puts GGG resume to shame but Ward has been inactive and GGG is getting anywhere from 1.1 to 1.24 mil viewers almost quadruple Wards numbers.

I don't know about Wards viewership with the Paul Smith fight. But he drew 1.3 million with his fight with Dawson. On HBO.

Now I'm not going to say that GGG's popularity hasn't eclipsed Wards, but I don't think there is a big enough gap between the two for anybody to be calling themselves the "A" side in this fight.
