Look at my signature, thats what really happened, Ward said not ready while GGG said ready and this is nothing but the truth, only just recently on Sportsnation Ward was rambling about the fight knowing thatt HBO is probably planning to have this fight in 2016 and NOT this year.

There have been conversations between Roc Nation Sports (who have Ward) and K2 Promotions (who have Golovkin), but those discussions have gone absolutely nowhere because the two sides are unable to get past the issue of weight..........

Barcham, there is not a lot of info available regarding that aspect of the sport, and each entity will have its own processes/style..... but essentially, it works like this.....

1) Brief discussion (by phone, to determine if a negotiation is possible/feasible..... at this point, the major terms and usual sticking points are mooted, to determine and confirm if a negotiation is possible)

NOTE: The Golovkin/Ward discussion died at this point.

2) Meeting/negotiation (at this stage everything is discussed, and the major/sticking points are documented..... details will need to be confirmed, questions need to be answered, a date for the 2nd meeting will be set, and individual responsibilities will be recorded..... it is possible that draft contracts are conceived at this point.....

NOTE: That..... " just fire off the contract " thing, is rubbish, and silly.

3) Additional meetings/negotiations..... to confirm/sign-off the details discussed earlier..... at that point most dates/times/questions can be confirmed..... early contract drafts could even be presented to the fighters at this point, but most likely following further discussions/confirmations

Fcukit, I'm not gonna go any further..... there is no point, because if you use the example I just gave you can see that the Golovkin/Ward negotiations did not make it past the first phone call because of the weight stipulation...... just like Team Golovkin planned when they demanded a catchweight of 164.

When 172 was announced for the Smith fight, no knowledgable boxing insider thought it conceivable that Ward could drop another 8lbs and make 164..... including Loeffler and Golovkin.

The 164 demand is a blatant duck, and was designed to prevent a genuine negotiation from taking place.

You do understand that THERE NEVER WAS THAT FIRST PHONE CALL do you not? This all started with an email exchange between Loeffler and Fat Dan. No contact was made with Ward or his camp and Loeffler stated exactly that. It was an off the cuff reply to a question asked by Rafael and it took on a life of it's own from there thanks to sites such as this one. If you can find any proof to the contrary, something from either camp that there was ANY DIRECT CONTACT between them, please feel free to post a link to it.

I'm still waiting for someone to provide a link where Loeffler or anyone from GGG's team made ANY offer at any time in the past couple of weeks to Ward's team about a fight with a catchweight of 164.

I think we will both be waiting a very long time because neither of those offers ever existed.

K2 Promotions managing director Tom Loeffler, who promotes middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin, continues to look for a major fight for GGG, the most feared fighter in boxing and its most destructive knockout artist this side of light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev.

Loeffler and Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) have made it clear they are interested in fights with any big name from junior middleweight to super middleweight, including opponents such as middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, Mexican star Canelo Alvarez (although they are fighting each other this fall), super middleweight champion Andre Ward or former super middleweight titlist Carl Froch, who has not fought for a year, is considering retirement and not shown any genuine interest in fighting GGG, going to far as to say in an interview on British television that fighters would be wise to “swerve Golovkin like the plague.” Apparently, he is following his own advice.

Golovkin especially would like to unify belts at middleweight. Loeffler hopes titlist David Lemieux and Golden Boy Promotions will have a change of heart and show interest in a fall fight. Titleholder Andy Lee is out of the picture for the fall because he is making his mandatory defense against Billy Joe Saunders.

Loeffler said Golovkin would be more than happy to have a fall fight with Ward (28-0, 15 KOs), who returned from a 19-month layoff last month to pummel hapless Paul Smith for nine one-sided rounds.

Although Golovkin is the bigger draw than Ward in terms of selling tickets and television ratings, Loeffler explained the terms they would be willing to make the fight for.

“GGG is now clearly the ‘A’ side yet Ward still would want to dictate terms, which makes no sense,” Loeffler said. “GGG would fight Ward on a 50-50 basis, the best 160-pounder versus the best 168-pounder [at] 164 [and] a 50-50 split on all proceeds. But it seems like Ward needs more tuneup fights.”

Absolutely NOWHERE in that post does it mention that any offer had been made to Ward or his team or that ANY CONTACT had been made between the two sides. In another media interview, Loeffler made it perfectly clear that no such contact had been made and it was a simple email interview he gave to Rafael.

If Golovkin waits for the Canelo/Cotto winner (most likely fighting nobody in the meantime)..... and then the eventual winner says to Golovkin.....

" 155, or go kick rocks kid..... coz I hear that you got no problem with catchweights if the A-side demands it, and you are definitely the B-side with me son "

I am guessing that the Cotto/Canelo winner would be labelled a coward/ducker.

Everybody who knows me, is well-aware that I cannot, and will not, regard catchweights as acceptable..... but in this particular instance, that catchweight would suit me perfectly

I know that math is probably not your thing, but the equivalent CW would be 157 at the absolute lowest.

No, a catchweight between two fighters in the same weight class is never OK and neither is a catchweight for any title fight. The situation can not be compared to one with two fighters from different divisions meeting in the middle for a non title bout. Anyone who is unable to understand the difference is too ****** to be on the Internet in any capacity at all and most definitely should not be posting on message boards.
