bigger guys shouldn't be asked to come down

you never know if they're healthy at that weight

here's how i see it: when golovkin was a nobody and ward was a true 168, golovkin was truly willing to move up to 168 and take a chance on that fight to get his name in the lights

now golovkin has emerged as one of the stars of boxing and ward is a nearly forgotten fighter straddling between 168 and 175, so golovkin has much more attractive options like pursuing same sized canelo, lemiuex, etc

      not ward's fault at all

so how about give up the charade and ward commits to 175 for kovalev, hopkins etc while golovkin admits he's a small MW and fights lara, lemiuex, canelo

Simple. Froch & Chavez Jr at 168 but Ward at 164.

I wonder how many of the GGG stans giving him a pass over this were shitting on Rigo for asking for one against Loma.

Cotto owns the WBC belt in which Golovkin is mandatory to and the lineal middleweight crown, which Golovkin has every right to compete for. If Golovkin owned the lineal crown at 168 you'd have a point, but he's never fought there. All Golovkin is trying to do is win the titles in the weight class he campaigns at. What a crime!

It's already been explained to you bigjavi - Golovkin doesn't have to move up a weight class, there is no obligation to. The fact that they were willing to fight Chavez/Froch was about the reward (money, exposure/fame). It's no different than Mayweather willing to fight Canelo and Cotto at 154 but not guys like Lara. In other words, Mayweather would move up for the right kind of fights, otherwise he's staying at 147.

I've said from the start if Cotto doesn't want to fight the best middleweights, drop the belt. No problem. But he went ahead and defended his belts against Geale and is now again defending those middleweight belts against Canelo. This has created a clusterfuck of a situation at middleweight. Of course the WBC is to blame for this as well, and all sanctioning bodies should be held accountable when crap like this happens.

As far as GGG goes, he's trying to become the lineal champ & unify the titles in his OWN division, which every fighter should want to accomplish, so it's not comparable at all. The only way it would be comparable is if Golovkin won the lineal crown at 168 and refused to fight Ward, which is what Cotto is currently doing.
But Cotto isn't doing that... he's doing what GGG is doing. Highest payday/lowest risk. If you want to justify GGG doing it because he doesn't have a right color of belt, that's your prerogative. They've doing the same **** but at least one guy earned his way up 3 divisions earlier, so cashing out now is okay or at least understandable. GGG wants the superstar treatment doing nothing and you're okay with it because... you think he could be good? So do I, but it needs to be earned.

Where in my post has the Sergio fight been mentioned. I'm ****ting on Cotto for not fighting GGG at all. Which happens to be far worse than a 4lbs catchweight.
